Steam and 3rd party launchers

I agree that there has been a growing issue with publishers requiring third party launchers.
If I buy a game on steam... why should I have to download an additional launcher? does steam NOT want me to buy, download, and run games through their platform? are they really ok with me feeling like if I'm just going to have to download a launcher for some games then I'll just stick with that launcher... especially if those are the only games I have.

Wouldnt it make more sense for steam to negotiate handling verifications and limiting launcher clutter so we stay on their platform for our gaming needs?

The only solution is to use the main launcher and buy it there. All stores support games with launchers, at least Steam tells you it has one.

Steam is the third party launcher for any game not published by Valve. If you don't want launcher clutter, don't buy those games on Steam. If you want to avoid launchers altogether, play on console.
