Bot profiles
Is anyone else getting spammed friend requests from mutiple profiles sporting some random profile pic, along with some randomly generated name with the description

"If you are reading this, I probably just one tapped you from range, shot you through a smoke, or prefired you and so you are probably checking my profile to see if I look like a hacker. Thank you for feeding my ego. Have a nice day, and please leave a comment."

Or is it just me? I've looked it up a few times and have found no one speaking about this.

Not to mention ALL of these "profiles" are from Mcdonald and Heard Islands, ALL with the EXACT same GTA VI showcase art work gifs, and similar play times on games like TF2 CSGO and usually some random third game but that's it.

Just wondering if literally anyone else is getting anything because it's pretty annoying and no matter how many times I ignore or report profiles, it seems like nothing is happeneing.

If anyone knows something let me know lol cause yeah it's annoying.

Yeah I skimmed through the rules and guidelines and online code of conduct for steam and really didn't find anything.

Its here https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/6862-8119-C23E-EA7B
Be respectful of yourself and other players
Interactions with other players should not be abusive, disparaging, or inflammatory, nor create an environment that is unwelcoming.

*Examples of disrespectful content include:
*Insults or harassment
*Threats or encouragement of harm
*Trolling or baiting arguments
*Discrimination
*Bypassing word or content filters
*Public accusations towards others

Um, okay? Could you enlighten me please, how exactly posting someone profile link goes under a "Public accusations towards others" tho? I mean I literally didn't accuse anybody of anything by doing so or am I missing somethig here? :LIS_poker_face:

Nobody said you was posting links. It is the op who posted links to profiles who appear to be behaving like scammers.

Ah I see, all this is alleged then!

I am not saying that i don't agree that those profiles are not being used for something malicious. But you have to realise that most accounts used in this way have been stolen/hijacked from other players. Players who can easily reclaim those accounts and are now subject to a witch hunt. This is why steam has that rule in place.

Well I'm not trying to witch hunt, just trying to see if there is a known bot problem and if anyone else is experiencing things. I guess having supporting evidence of what it looks like is okay as opposed to outright calling for these to be taken down hopefully. At any rate, I have done everything in my own power to do what I can to report, block, and ignore whatever it is I get. Hopefully whatever it is will die away at some point. :steambored: :steamsad:
Fyi there are also human "bot" farms which use low cost employees to push/promote/spam their "thing"

We had a spate of them a while back on an official external forum, ill not be suprised if they're here too as well as AI powered ones.

wtf? I aware of this? :tf2facepalm: :bgt_laughter:
I just asked you a question since you are the one who gave us the info about that topic.
And seems like there will be no answer.

If you read everything i said in my last post where i quoted not only you but another person, you will see the reason why.

... I mean, I already did and that certenately not it. You just mention few of many reasons why posting someone profile link can be considered as "Public accusations towards others". That's it.

While posting JUST a link, without anything else can't go under this certain rule.

I'm somehow wrong? But I guessing I need to submit a ticket since I'm kinda interested now.

upd. aaaaand done. So, what do we have here?

You are not allowed to post links to other users profiles.

Oopsie . As I thought. There goes a support reply: " Posting links to other users' profiles can be acceptable in the Steam Community. However, in some contexts this would not be appropriate". Good thing I got kinda lucky with such a quick response tho.

So. Posting JUST a single link to someone profile - acceptable, but posting a link to someone profile WHILE for example witch hunting that person OBVIOUSLY - not appropriate.

There you go.
