This winter sale feels like any other sale.
Why did they slack this year on the sale? Since the sale started I've went through 2 or 3 times. No winter sale cards from the discovery queue give me no reason to check the store every day. Getting my free trading cards were half the excitement when waiting for these big sales. Yeah they will make some extra money for the trading cards one for one but in the long run they lose big time.

I had 40$ worth of buy orders. Then I realized my .05 buy orders would never be fulfilled. I canceled and bought 33 cents worth of cards. (Only 3) just to complete one last set. I don't plan to buy anymore. I'm not paying 1$ + to go up 1 level.

It isn't? then why is the main subject of your OP is the free cards that you aren't getting?

The perception of slacking is because they're making a long awaited sequel/conclusion to a very popular game series.

Some people enjoyed the drops and trying to complete their set after shopping for their games. now the event just turned into buying cards and mandatory interaction with the market. That's the problem, nobody likes stickers, and there is nothing event/meta left.

Don't underestimate the amount of people who don't care for the events/meta. Or who like the stickers.

It isn't mandatory to use the Market. You can still trade with people.

And I LOVE stickers.

I stopped trading because of steam guard. Trading is fine, but doing 1:1 fair trades will cost 100 dollars to get 10 cards to trade with, better to interact with the market unless you were spending over 100 at least. This isn't an arguement for free, but I do find that steep to interact with the event at all, at least in a non awkward buying your badge directly sort of way.

And btw, not sure if you missed the part where I was willing to pay for 40$ worth of cards to level up my account? It not about me not getting "free" cards.

Tito let the poor guy gripe, a lot of folks are apparently very upset about this card business

All of this makes me wonder what state Valve 'really' is in, if they have to pull stunts like this. Pathetic, in my opinion.

And the outright blatant support to said choice, by the very select few.. those who I often wonder why they spent so much time here fighting on Valves side, even though Valve couldn't care less about them or anyone else at this point.

Back in the day we got 3 cards per day, flash sales and events with minigames where you could win coupons and even entire games ... These days we only get mediocre discounts.
