Steam discussion reply notifications issue

So lately I've started getting my reply notifications in a weird and much worse way. Now when I click on one(notifications button in top right), ONLY the newest reply is highlighted in the thread, if there's more than one, where previously ALL the new replies since I last checked were highlighted. This is a HUGE step back and I noticed I've missed a lot of posts because of it. ALL unread posts should be highlighted like how it used to be. Is it a bug or something in the client?

yes it is a bug, and has been going on for 2 months+ now. some forums work correctly, most do not right now.
