Well you know Steam, every year it progressively gets worse. Though with no trading cards, I have no interest in doing my discovery queue. Which I feel is bad marketing as I'm sure I can't be the only person who's found and purchased games via the discovery queue.

Steam probably thought that they would make more money by not giving cards people could sell. That goes to show that every single company in this planet isn't anyone's friend.

&*^%#&$%^*&!!!! I hate getting these perma-inventory items. I wish they'd made it abundantly clear they'd replaced cards on the Discovery Queue this year before I added this junk to my inventory.

Well, d'oh. It's all sales transactions.

In the same vein, people aren't owed special "loyalty" of privileges in that either.

Most companies tend to stop with things when it doesn't drive more engagement. They won't put more effort into sales events than necessary. Why bother when the gain isn't really there?

Go to Epic Games Store, instead.

If people sell the cards, that means someone else is buying them so its not like Valve loses money from the seller making a saving somewhere else.

yup, always found some interesting games through the queue, and card trading was some fun stuff I did on the side especially during the long winter break to help me finish other game badges.
I really dislike this change, and no way in hell am I going to go through discovery que now for those stupid stickers perma stuck in my inventory. Does anyone even use them? :steamfacepalm:

But if someone gets "free cents" to buy money, then they can't accept it, it seems.

True. Brand loyalty is a foolish thing

It's not "free cents" though, from Steam's POV. For every few free cents some random user gets from a card, another user had to add money into their account.

In fact, given that Steam takes their "minimum tax" off each card sold, they MAKE money off the cards being sold between players. Not much money, but it probably adds up on tens or hundreds of thousands of cards sold.

The only thing getting rid of free cards does is help increase the value of gems. With far fewer event badges being crafted, there's no influx of gems from the excess backgrounds and emotes being converted into 100 gems each. Which, in the long run, might be better for the Steam economy? After all, it was the events where we had 3 cards from daily queues and 3 cards from daily mini-games that led to massive deflation in the value of gems in the first place...

I know they're permanent, but the DQ has been giving cards every year since I joined Steam. There's nothing in the DQ that says "Complete the queue to earn a sticker instead of a card". If there had been, I wouldn't have bothered. Much like how I don't vote for the Steam Awards anymore because I don't want stickers...

I am disappointed. It was tradition for me every big sale for badge on games. Even if someone was farming cards i don't think it was huge lose for Valve because they also had money from selling them on Steam Market + it was good thing to boost sales for games.
