Steam family
So my Daughter recently got her first gaming PC

being i have been with steam since 2011 and have a plethora of games, before spending £100s on games she will never play i though steam family would be a good way to get her to try some games.

But we have quite a unique set up when it comes to our network. i work in telecoms industry and one of the perks is free internet. with that in mind i have had a second line put into the house and my daughter has her own line so no lag etc across the house when downloading etc.

but due to this Steam family thinks we are not in the same house hold.

is there any way to allow or make steam know she is a wall away and not in a complete different house ?

Try swapping her computer to your line or have her log into her steam account on your pc and join it then.

....and right when they switch back, it's probably not going to work.

That's why having different lines probably isn't going to work.

When you have joined the family as long as you are in the same store region it will not matter if you are on different ip's then.

thats fair, it was worth an ask to see if anyone knew a way around it, as im not trying to break their rules as to it being in a single house hold.

all good, just let the wallet take the hit :cozyspaceengineersa:

No rules are being broken with either of my suggestions and if that did not work try having her buy a game when on your line or when she uses your pc so it updates to that and try again as it should work when you are on the same ip address like that.
