Hey! It sounds like you're having a frustrating problem, but don't worry, there are a few steps you can try to improve Steam's download speed. Here's what to do:

1. Check the Steam download area:
Steam servers can sometimes be slower depending on the region.

Go to Steam Settings > Downloads > Download Region.
Select a region close to your location. But it is different from the default.
2. Clear Steam download cache:
Go to Steam Settings > Downloads > Clear Download Cache.
This will not affect your installed games. But it can fix download problems.
3. Turn off Windows power throttling:
Sometimes laptops will limit their performance to save power.

Go to Windows Settings > Power and sleep > Additional power settings.
Select High Performance or Ultimate Performance mode.
4. Limit background activities:
Make sure that no other apps are using your bandwidth.

View the task manager for apps like OneDrive, Windows Updates, or other game launchers (such as Epic).
5. Adjust Steam download settings:
Go to Steam Settings > Downloads.
Turn off "Allow downloads during gameplay" (which can speed things up)
Additionally, turn off the auto-detection setting under Windows Internet Options.
6. Testing with Ethernet:
Sometimes, even though the speed test looks good, Wi-Fi can cause fluctuations. Connect via Ethernet and see if the speed improves.

7. Update Steam and laptop drivers:
Make sure your Steam client and laptop drivers (especially network adapters) fully updated

8. Check your antivirus or firewall:
Occasionally, antivirus or firewall software will slow down Steam downloads, temporarily disabling them for testing.

I hope these solutions are helpful :)

So you have a 10GB line?

I feel like you are reading the info wrong

if you do have a 10gb line fair enough

But i'm amusing you have 1500mbps

So 1550mbps is 193.75 MB/s so if anything the steam installer is slightly faster then epic. if you are getting 200MB/s you are getting 1600mbps through steam.

Indeed liek that! Sorry my bad ;) But still getting 20MB/s on steam and 180MB/s on Epic, so i guess its steam fault?

No, ISP issue.
Contact them and ask why they are shaping the connection to/from Steam.

Info here:

Also, try an adjacent country/server too.
For example, choose another state if in the USA.
If located in Western Europe, choose a close-by country - say, Germany/France/The Netherlands/Belgium/UK/etc.

Does it help any?

What country are you in, by the way?

* Did it work fine i.e. fast previously?
Or was Steam always slow this way?

* What country are you in?

* Do other Stores/gaming clients work fine i.e. fast?
Such as -- Microsoft Store, Epic Games Store, new EA desktop app, Ubisoft Connect, GOG Galaxy, Battle.net?

Steam is not & cannot limit anything.
Your ISP is doing that.

How about Greece and Romania download servers?
Are they slow too?

I've tried couple of servers still the same, dowlnoad speed is jumping, from 0 which happens often to max 60Mb/s which isnt great, i should have over 100Mb/s

It's throuput of the laptop cpu. One game has little or no encryption. Or compression. While a game like Diablo I has both. Etc.
Also the laptop hdd could be slow because of graphics is on the same bus. I'm not sure but that's what my laptop is. Cheap hp with win11. I have win10, I use the laptop only when I have to. 10 foot pole. Kinda. Anyways.

Steps off soap box.

steam issue, been like this for years...

doesnt matter new or old drives, you drivers, your network, your cpu, or your isp, simply because steam causes the issue with their horrible download and install process.

New "gaming" laptop.

Try it. Don't have the same specs as the old computer.

Try old computer. Exact same connection is as good as before.

Can't possibly be because of the new computer. No sir. Steam is at it again!

...

Profit?
