No tax
Our fearless canadian leader, cuckface Mcgee, recently removed all sales tax from video games while running a 64 billion dollar deficit for this years budget because its election this year and hes trying to buy our votes.

Anyway, why is steam still charging me sales tax?

Looks like the tax free only applies to physical copies.

Digital games were not exempted. Only physical.

These new or used items qualify as video game consoles, controllers, and games:

Game consoles designed primarily for playing video games

Controllers designed primarily for playing video games on a qualifying video game console

Physical video games, in a tangible format designed for the read-only storage of information in digital format, that contains a video game designed for use with a qualifying video game console (for example, game cartridges)

Only physical games?? Its not 2006 anymore. This guy is so out of touch. Anyway, thanks for the info. Mods can lock this thread now before it turns argumentative.

Im quite sure it was done to boost the local stores, not some Digital US based one.
And as most people still can buy physical games on consoles....

Sounds about right. Brick and mortars even with an online presence are in need of a cash infusion these days.

Boosting the local economy is why to help business which sell physical products to stay afloat.

Lol, no. Most 'local' businesses are still charging sales tax because its too complicated and costly to change all the payment systems to not calculate tax then change them back in a month.

This will cost local businesses more than the people will save. Its just a scheme to try to get stupid people to vote for him because he is doing anything he can to remain prime minister because he thinks hes gods gift to canada. The best part, hes so done next November or earlier. I think his party is currently a 6 to 1 underdog in vegas. There is no chance.

I wouldn't mind but canada is in a really bad place right now. It may be better once cuckface mcgee is gone. So i may be over reacting.

He'll probably stay in until he reduces the Liberals to non-party status in the next election (hopefully).
