Is UPlay really that bad?

Been reading horror stories about UPlay being always online and kicking out of your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game if the connection drops/ubi's servers are offline. Is this true/a regular occurence?

I've held out on playing games like Far Cry 3 and Max Payne 3 for a few months because of it. Might as well bite the bullet now.

I haven't used UPlay too much, but everytime I've used it to play Far Cry 4, I've crashed at least once in nearly each session.

Oh, and Max Payne 3 is Rockstar, so no worries there.

Oh yes, I remember that Rockstar has the issues with the social club login.. I love DRM with my DRM...

FWIW I have never had a problem with it. No a single crash, or lost save, etc.. I just hate having to load it up when I'm already in Steam and having to have a double layer of DRM. It's ridiculous. And it really sucks when I get free games and they're for Uplay. I'd forgotten I had recieved the new Flashback last year until a few months ago because I never open Uplay on it's own.

Yes uPlay is fu ck ing awful. I bought Trails Fusion, played it once and never again because I can't stand it. Any game from now on that says it requires uPlay it's an automatic NOT BUY for me.

Max Payne 3 and GTA V are different. Rockstar Social Club is built into the game, so it requires no other program just to play the game. Social Club has actual useful features, like the video editor in GTA V which is amazing. Just look at what some people have made with it.

only used it for farcry 3 and as i found the game boring and shockingly easy i haven't played it much but i dont see what the fuss is about, it opens when you click to play the game so your maybe having to click play twice and i've never had any crashes people speak about

I have no problems with Uplay...it's just annoying because you don't get Steam achievements and have to find your friends on there. (if they are even on there) Hopefully it goes the route of Games for Windows and dies soon.

I've never personally had an issue with uplay (fingers crossed), but I've read enough to believe that some people have issues with it. (I've only played From Dust and Valiant Hearts on ubi). I did purchase child of light, so hopefully it'll go well too, but there are reports of uplay losing save games for people. Uplay also likes to update too, so count on waiting on that whenever you login after a while. It's more steps, kindof a pain, but I kindof like some of their games.

It's mainly Far Cry 4 that's caused problems for me, but I've heard there have been some UPlay problems with Far Cry 4. I've played a little bit of Far Cry 3 and Splinter Cell Blacklist and UPlay seemed to work fine, then. Granted, I didn't play either of those as much as I've played Far Cry 4.

Aside from being intrusive, and having a few games that crash (I'm looking at you, Future Soldier), it's not absolutely terrible when your computer is set up properly.

I have had no issue with UPlay at all. It's fairly unintrusive, it has a reward mechanism like no other platform I've encountered which actually encourages you to play the game (IMHO) and it's more stable than it's ever been. In fact, I'd be tempted to say I've had fewer issues with UPlay than I have Steam.

Yes, some people don't like it, and it does have some faults, but it is far from the horribly broken trash some will claim it to be.

It's intrusive if you use it as a client, because it can't minimize to tray, so it eats space on the task bar.

This is why I dont buy Uplay games... I already have to log into steam to play, now I have to log in a 2nd time??

The game gets added to your UPlay library, so you don't need Steam up, you just have to have UPlay open.
