Launch codes for manual game login
Hello, what do i enter into a games launch code if i want to login to a game manually?

Instead of the game using auto-login with steam account.

You say it like it's some nuclear launch codes. You launching a game the way the president presses a red button. LOL

Hah yeah it's a weird thing to ask.

How would you ask this question?

What? is that to-do with activating the game on steam?

Im talking about when you open a game and it logs into the Steam ID, and i wish to know the Launch Code so that it opens a menu to enter my details to login to my game account.

I wish to manually enter my username and password when i open the game through steam.

when you purchase via steam if you are not given a code then you play on steam, another launcher may ask you to login or whatever but thats not a launch code

what game are you trying to play?
Ah ok, you are talking about something else.

I am talking about the games launch code:
Right clicking the game and going to PROPERTIES < GENERAL (its one of the input boxes)

Not the code to activate a game.

Options to Use

Here are some of the more useful launch options:
-login - Bypass the Steam login window by entering your login information

Example
Log in automatically:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steam.exe" -login username password

https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/0188-6BB7-D467-08E1
I don't think you understand.

Those are window parameters for your Steam shortcut..
Not the LAUNCH CODE properties of a steam game.

Unless the game gives you the option, you don't.

It would help if you named the specific games you are asking about.

Where would i look for those launch codes if the game offered the option?

Again, it depends on the game. These options are just command line options, so it's entirely up to the game whether it does anything with them, and up to the publisher or "the community" whether they are listed somewhere.

Traditionally, programs output their options if you start them with something like "-h", "/?", "/h" ,"--help" or something similar. Or just any option they don't understand. However, outputting the options from the program itself instead of requiring the user to find documentation is mostly a convention for programs that are MEANT to be used from the command line, which is not generally the case for games. They might just silently ignore command lines they don't understand.

But if the code existed, it would be the same across all games.. i would just need to know what it is..
Do you know what the launch code would be to allow manual login ?

If developers program their games differently, how would it be the same across all games? You don’t even know what it is but are somehow assuming it’s the same for everything? I don’t understand this logic.

You're going to have to list specific games for that kind of help. Or ask on their forums.

You could call them common commands right?
Things that are used commonly across other games?
eg:
  • -nolog
  • -no-stereo
  • -nojoy
  • -novid
  • -high
  • -useallavailablecores

Where logically.. devs would use the same command everyone else would use that does the same function..

So any game that auto-uses a STEAM ID to login to the game, could have a steam LAUNCH CODE command that skips to the login screen where you could enter your details in manually.

Haha.. yes sir.
Not sure how else it would attempt the login otherwise.

Well you never really clarified by naming any games hence the confusion during the thread.

It is game dependent on how the developer set it up. Auto login or a login box.
