Tariffs do not apply to digital goods, as they are neither imported or exported.
Unless you directly buy hardware from Steam, no.

Yup, whether or not Devs decide to up the cost to adjust for increased living and goods costs still remains unknown however.

I'm curious how this will fix our economy when like 70% or our nation are one health crisis from being unable to pay rent or buy groceries tbh.

Let's not turn this into another "Tariffs are bad" thread (we know they are), there have been enough of them already.

I don't think we'll see an increase in game pricing, except from greedy AAA companies. A lot of studios exist outside of America and thus will likely be unaffected by them. It's possible some games may make changes to their pricing, who knows.

Oh, the point was never to fix the economy. That was a lie sold to the people who were willing to believe it. The point always was to hoover up the last of our money to give it to the people who really run this country, the oligarchs.

Pretty much any region likely to be subjected to such increase, i.e, parts of Europe, Australia, Japan, have seen those increases consistently since Steam launched regional pricing in those regions. In other words, it'll be business as usual.

Increases in prices due to regional pricing has nothing to do with additional taxes.
And honestly, most prices for pc games are the same as they where 20 years ago, if not even cheaper thanks to the devaluing of prices trough steam sales.

Publishers are trotting out influencers on Twitch, Kick, YouTube, and Rumble to sell the idea that tariffs are the villain behind price hikes. And there’s Asmongold, already on the case—though if you peek at his desk, there’s probably a check signed by EA or Activision, thanking him for keeping the profits flowing.
i am sure there will be indirect or cross over rises...

game makers will be paying more for other stuff like the rest of us...

everyone always wants more money and more money

Tarifs will be the cause that other goods will raise in price which will have a direct effect on Everything, be it the costs companies need to pay (including Software developers) as other goods they need need to be imported, or costs the average person needs to pay (or money he looses thanks to those dumb decisions made in the US giovernment).

So depending on how long the little 5 year old decides to make a tantrump and thinks he needs the attention prices for games could rise thanks to that.
And if they do that they wont go down anymore....

Never said anything about taxes. And no, for some of us, the prices of games are not the same. When regional pricing first launched in my region, for example, a AAA game went for no more than 7,000 odd JPY. Most were priced nearer to 6,000 JPY. Indies tended to be priced at 1980 JPY. Today, most AAA games are priced close to 10,000 JPY. Indies tend to cost near the 4000 JPY mark.

And as I said, this trend for regions such as mine, isn't going to change. By the end of the decade a base game will absolutely cost us 11,000 to 12,000 JPY. And this has little to do with the devaluing of the yen, either, as it is a consistent pattern over the last 20 years, even when the yen was strong. Conversely, on consoles, prices are lower than on Steam. But then, that's because there's real competition within the physical market to incentivise such pricing.

I mean I hate both Asmon and Hasan. I think they're both just a lot of noise without any real substance behind them. :lilacstare:
