Steam Support is a JOKE
I lost my access to my old account, so I asked steam support to help me.
They always answered me 24 hours later on my questions. And the answers I got were absolutely Illogical and had nothing to do with my problem.
They absolutely don’t care!!
These are the names of the steam Support employees: Cami, Kally, Kiki

If you have lost access to the account

Account Recovery
Make sure you are completely logged out of Steam before you start the recovery process

When doing an account recovery, do not try to rush thru the process. Trying to rush thru normally results in information being missed and time wasted. Take your time and read everything.

Here is a guide that another Steam user was kind enough to make. It will help you navigate your way thru the recovery process if you are having any problems.

I will likely be banned for telling you this, but...

Most of support is now outsourced to a call center.

Call centers will often use employees that do not natively speak the language that they are being asked to support. They are trained to look for specific keywords instead. The call center will have an internal wiki that the employee can search those keywords in, then they will just copy paste the canned responses from that wiki.

That is why you will often get unrelated responses. Responses that are just related to one or two of the words that you used, rather than being related to the actual question that you asked.

hmmm
There is an existing process for account recovery as Wolf Knight posted.
Also if you are unable to provide what support asks for, they are not going to give you access to an account that you cannot prove you own.
Here the thing, the more you beat around the bush answering support questions, the more you get jerk around until you give up, and answer their question that how it will play out, as they don't just openly hand people accounts to random people especially to people that's being vague answering their questions to verify if you're the owner of the account.

So if there a question you can't answer such as CD key used on account, you TELL them you never used any if never used them, or tell them you don't have them anymore, and ask what other way to provide proof of ownership that simple.

ANY support site will ASK for proof of ownership, this is no different when needing to verify proof.
