Actual prices are insane, what happened? Piracy will win =x
Hello there,

Steam came as a great alternative and revolution to gaming on PC's.

I do have more than 400 games on my catalogue and i'm sure alot of people have much more.

From 2 years to now prices increased to the absurd.

The new Doom game around 70 EUR?
Call of duty 65 EUR??

That's absolutely insane! If it's expensive in Europe imagine South America and Asia?

Sorry that's absurd, if Steam doesnt do anything against it, Piracy will go up again.

The worst thing is many goty/complete editions of recent titles are still expensive, even after deep discount. I remember many years ago, i only needed to spend 10$ for both witcher 1&2 goty edition. Nowadays, most titles still cost 50-70$ after discount.

You expect current year titles to be deep discounted? Really?

It only took 3 years for witcher 2 (goty edition) to receive its biggest discount (85%)

https://steamdb.info/app/20920/

Meanwhile, another game from the same company, cp2077 had only received 55% disc 4years after its release date

This is even worse when you start looking at games that have huge collection of dlc, like civilization

If you had actually been spending money on this store for a while, you'd have notice this.
Developers and publishers adjusting their pricing strategies to the purchasing habits of gamers. Yes, really odd...

Edit: I got all of Civ 5 and 6 in a Humble bundle. Didn't pay much, good deal. Along with some other Sid Meiers games I didn't have yet (Beyond Earth + dlc, for example).

Developers/Publishers choose when and how much to discount their products. Plummeting sales is often a good time to choose to do a massive sale especially during Steam Sales, but not every Dev/Pub is going to do that.

I got Marvels Avengers Definitive Edition for $5 just by playing the waiting game, P2P as well. It was going to be delisted and it was a good way to make a sudden and final flow of cash for the parties involved.

Heck, I've gotten a lot of GOTY versions for around $5 just by waiting. If you wait long enough, Devs tend to do 90% discounts. Buy when it's the price you want, but if you want it "now, now. now"; pay the price at the time you want it.

And can you think ofa few reasons why? Like say the game being waaay por popular and having a way larger production budget and still seing active development with patches and bug fixes...

It's almost as if the more stuff there is in a game, and the more anticipated /in-demand the title, the more it will cost.

Shocking.

If i remember the trainwreck that was cp2077 launch, i'd expect a 90% disc after a year of its release date.

But then again, most ppl these days have no respect of themselves

If it had remained in that trainwreck state you'd be right.. but it didn't.
Now sure most dev/pubs pull the plug on a game after a bad launch, buuuut some keep hammering away and wind up with a better product.

Kinda why it pays to wait a year or two before buying these AAA games. $EVen if the price is the same, you'll be getting a better product.
