Will the Tariffs raise the price of games?

Which is to say, if the Game Developer is located in Europe, or Canada, China etc, does that raise the price of what we would pay here at Steam, or Xbox, or anywhere?

I wouldn't count out a few AAA publishers upping prices across the board, though. You know how they can be.

The tax rate has nothing to do with tariffs like that as it's about adjusting prices on imported goods to make it fair for local businesses and digital games are not directly targeted in it.

Physical hardware will be the issue and this will increase the cost to make games for companies that have to pay the higher cost in goods so it can cause them to increase their prices for everyone for US based companies.

I would be more worried with the soon to be released GTA 6 as rumors are they plan on increasing the price of a base game between $80-$100 for it and this will mean other games will follow suit as we saw when the $70 game price became the normal for new games.

Well i think that's really the whole crusp of the matter (though i sincerely didn't know Mr Newell was a Democrat, but a Libertarian Independent) , that it would be, he, who would pay the higher tariff to get the game in his store, and pass the cost to us.

The question would be, would he find it to be "profitable" for he to sell such games at higher prices and may decide not to carry the game at all.

I sincerely don't know, which is why i'm asking. Another mentioned it just pertains to "physical goods". Who knows.

AH, that makes sense. And so, the tariff within itself will not have anything to do with the digital games. But to "make" the digital games, will cost the developers more, and therefore raise the prices.

Not to mention, the cost of these parts that PC and Consoles use, raising the prices of gaming in general.

Well, there it is. Hang onto your old games, pc's, and older gaming consoles. And hope MS don't yet again, end Win 10 and have all of our PC friends have to spend an arm and a leg for new PCs or parts.

It might raise the prices of physical goods for those who use consoles. Us digital users will basically be unaffected since the tarrif's don't apply to digital items.

Not really, tarriff's will have next to no impact on the costs of making games. Outside of stuff like electricity, physical space, rent, salaries, etc all of which have nothing to do with Tariffs software will be unaffected. There will be tiny increases to stuff like desks, furniture, etc POSSIBLY depending on where they are gotten, but the costs would be so low and so infrequently purchased to have no impact.

You should really read up on what the tarriff's actually do.

Fun fact though, streaming thru GFN might go up in price as the cost of their equipment to stream games to people increases in price. Making it even more cost effective to own your own PC.

Yep, thank goodness i only have 5 games there.

But this is gonna hit PC a lot harder, given the price of the parts it would take to keep up with newer demand for games and operating systems. And those buying the newer consoles.

Что ж, я думаю, в этом-то и вся суть (хотя я искренне не знал, что мистер Ньюэлл был демократом, а не независимым либертарианцем), что именно он заплатит более высокую цену, чтобы получить игру в свой магазин, и переложит расходы на нас.

Вопрос в том, посчитает ли он «выгодным» продавать такие игры по более высоким ценам и не решит ли вообще не продавать их.
