Value of a game
This question is game irrelevant but I thought it warrants disccusion.

What quantifies (if that can even be established) a value of a game.

Is it Hours played, meaningful enjoyment, or something else?

I think I already know the answer The value is determined by the individual and level of satisfaction derived from the product for their money and time

But maybe someone else can put it in better words.

I don't think an answer will end any arguments.

It's different for everybody. There is no one way to define personal value of something.
Amalgamation of hundreds if not thousands variables like amount of content divided by many categories, how are chord combinations structured in one track out of the soundtrack, or resource usage divided also by many categories etc.

You summed it quite well already.
Yep, I mean its going to be subjective and include elements of quality, duration, etc.

I mean for instance the best game i've ever played wouldn't have much value to me if it was only 30 minutes long, neither would the worst game i'ved played have value if it had 1,000,000 hours of playtime.
Meaningful enjoyment.
Now what any given qyuantity of meaningfyul enjoyment is worth to a given person is up for grabs.
OP likes Bethesda games quite a bit.

Their games are hit and miss but mods make them bearable.

:nkCool:
At first, I thought this was about trade value. But if it's meant to be personal value, that's for you alone to know. The memories you create from it is the value you have.

Your assessment is pretty spot on. Those who try to assign value to a game based upon some arbitrary and nebulous criteria, such as median playtime are missing the point entirely.

The only factor for me when purchasing a game is am I getting bang for my buck, and my time. A 30 minute single playthrough of a game selling for $10 can give me as much enjoyment as an 80 hour game selling for $70.

Likewise a free game with infinite replayability might not be worth a single second of my time.

So at the end of the day, the type of game doesn't matter, the replayability of a game does not matter, the length of content does not matter. The only thing that matters is am I going to enjoy the game, and is the enjoyment I am going to get out of the game worth the price I am paying.
