Steam Hardware & Software survey has wrong data in it

I'm referring to the data in this screen https://imgur.com/a/sMQpjtU accessible in the report at https://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey
The shown windows versions percentages sum up to 97.5% that is lower to the total 96.10%.
I doubt that every OS category sums up to 100% because, for example, that would mean that there are more that 1650 versions of MacOS that are not in the list with a popularity lower or equal to 0.06%.

You are reading it wrong. The totals for which version of windows are for all within"all windows users" not the % total for overall users

Same goes for the breakdown of which versions of linux and macos.

They are saying, within that 96.10%, the percent of OS used. Not that 54.96% are Windows 11. But 54.96% of that 96.10% are on Windows 11. And won't add up to 100% due to oddities in supported and unsupported OS versions.

I've already considered that, but as i wrote in my original post, that would mean that also all the MacOS version would sum up to 100%, so there would be more than 1650 (that is a lower bound, the real number would be much higher) point versions of MacOS all with a popularity <= 0.06%

Then think about it again. Because ignoring the fact that if you want to use ALL line items you have to add that 96.1 total for windows to all those other numbers too

If you spend even a fraction of a second looking at the granularity there you can easily see WHY there will be so many more OS versions reported for mac and linux compared to windows. You are getting literal distro numbers for EACH POSSIBLE PATCH. There have been literally thousands, especially given you will STILL find versions as far back as at LEAST 11

A processor can support more than one instruction set, just like a human can understand more than one language.

The ones that are above 100% on their own are probably some kind of math mistake.

Multiple of those features and settings can have multiple configurations on a single pc.

Heck the same can be done for OS's. You aren't limited to a single one per machine

Just found out that i can filter by OS and see the percentages for every single OS.
In the filtered page the percentages are higher, because they (should) sum up to 100%, and in the global report they should be adjusted by applying the 96.1%.
I said should because they don't, with the windows filter they sum up to 100.87% and the adjustment by 96.1% is wrong.
