Do the DEI developers of games such as concord and veilguard still have an audience?
Concord is an infamous failure, and veilguard didn't do badly but it was very far away from breaking any sales records. I look at social media groups that built up 10+ million subscribers like IGN and ther videos today have hardly any attention. Kotaku was a titan of games media too, and barely anyone looks at anymore.

The only reason I am asking about this is that modern year games aren't my main focus for gaming anymore. None of my past 5 games were developed in the 2020s. I am not opposed to DEI in principle, and I recognize that as filled to the brim as veilguard was with the stuff, I probably would have disliked it for a whole lot of reasons related to gameplay and the lack of continuity it had with the dragon age series from an artistic and lore point of view.

Well it is to me. Gaming websites simply lack the finesse of discussing game-mechanisms as a professional. So instead they make stuff up such as things being “Woke” to stir up controversies to receive clicks on their websites and channels.
It's not even that they can't but the simple truth is.. it's easy money for them. Rage baiting takes less effort than making proper writing and stoking flames of the culture war is easy views.

The "anti-woke" crowd quite literally cried over Space Marine 2 "going to be woke trash" 6+ months before its release due to Ashley Cooper being part of the writing team.
Yeah, I'm still kind of confused over why people threw such a fuss over Ashley Cooper. I don't know who Cooper is or what he/she did to make some gamers angry, but it didn't really impact my experience with Space Marine 2 because I don't pay attention to developer gossip. Like, did Cooper take the game out back and mercilessly shoot it.

moral of the story: if they had an audience, they wouldn't flop. Concord studio wouldn't have shut down, and Ubiflop wouldn't be 2 months away from bankruptsy.

anyone saying different are literally lying to themselves.

Moral of the story, bad games are going to fail. Woke or not.

The majority of gamers, don't care about your war.

To be honest, threads like this make me want to play those evil, "woke" game more... Just out of spite for people who are so lost in this nonsense war.
Especially, that some of those games are really cool. :ChibiColette:

if they didn't care they'd buy those games and they wouldn't go broke. there's tons of people with horrible taste, enough so that they wouldn't go bankrupt...

it's also not "my" war, but "OUR" war. the entire world has risen up against "woke". that's why everything containing the dreaded W-word flops.

and not just in gaming, but in reality itself. but don't take my word for it, visit California right about now.

Willfully blew right past the part that said bad/subpar games fail, regardless of woke.

Concord's art style didn't fit the gameplay it was trying to push, while also releasing in a heavily saturated market with character gameplay where a majority of the characters were just some variation of "gun and grenade".

Y'all were crying your eyes out about the bear scene in the BG3 forums, Sirona simply existing in Hogwarts Legacy, the pronoun selection at the start of Starfield, female custodes and Ashley Cooper in Warhammer 2, the art style choice/representation of Hestia in Hades 2.

And, the goalposts kept moving.

We don't care about your moral crusade, as evident that even cartoon porn is more popular on Steam than the largest "fight the woke" group.

You're quite literally the opposite side of the same coin of the "woke", a very loud very small minority.

It was a matter of time for Ubi to have the same kind of game turn stale. Every formula becomes old and Ubi only released "Assassins Creed Random-civilization" and "Far-another-open-world-Cry" after another.

As a patient gamer I get to play games when any controversy about them is long forgotten. Makes everything more enjoyable.

Some of those "woke" games are amazing, and the tune often changes to some sort of gaslight/cope if a game does well.

Hogwarts Legacy, while it feels a bit rushed. It captures the wonder and mystery of Hogwarts castle pretty well with all the collectibles, puzzles, hidden rooms, etc.

People were borderline crying themselves until they puked, over a Trans npc existing, voiced by a Trans voice actress.

But...once the numbers were out, it was a lot of "no, it was the lefties who boycotted it. We bought it to spite them!" cope.

BG3 was quite literally FULL of wailing neckbeards, typing as fast as their cheeto-dust encrusted sausages could handle over the bear scene. Quite literally alluding to it being actual bestiality, and pushing the "what next? Kids? I knew LGBT+ were groomers" rhetoric.

Game sold well, got popular, even the anti-woke bought it. Now? "Not woke, just designed that way."

I lost interest when they decided to change the formula to atypical bullet sponge enemies with healrthbars, to stretch out gameplay. So right around Odyssey/Origins, admittedly, I did get Origins because I heard it wasn't half bad regardless, plus it was like $8 for the game and all the DLC.

Yet to play it, however.

I don't really agree with the whole "defund the police" shtick, but she is allowed to have those views and I can't really do anything to change one's beliefs. As long as a developer of a game didn't kill anyone, I'll purchase anything that interests me.

Defund the police doesn't actually mean "get rid of cops" it means investing resources in better alternatives so police presence doesn't escalate.

For example hiring mental healthcare professionals to help alongside police, or go to calls where a mental health crisis is happening, to de-escalate the situation.

Kinda like how BLM actually stood for "Black Lives Matter Too" but, was shortened to be more catchy. People don't get the full story, and people sensitive to the matter push alternative narratives.
