When Did Steam Stop Issuing Coupons?
Have you noticed that Steam has stopped giving you coupons now? When did that happen?

I haven't seen one in quite a while so I imagine they have been phased out collectively with developers. The coupon aspect was pretty dated anyway and you could always get a better deal in the sale. So rather than 4 people having a 50% off coupon of said game, the developer could just offer a 60% discount to 100,000,000 active users instead through the store. The coupons also became dated with sale discounts that eclipsed the offering so the developers would have to withdrawal the coupon and offer a new one and many did not do this so they became very pointless.

It's been almost 10 years, bud. I think I got a coupon the first year I was on Steam, and that was the last time.
I don't think they stopped so much as dev/pubs stopped enabling them.
Right now i have a coupon for a game i would never buy. Its only usage is to gift it to a bot, but i can’t do even that bc of trade delay.

My whole problem with every change they make is that it is a shadow change with no warning. What company thinks they can make major changes to the platform and buying/trading/selling with OUR money without even so much of a warning? I can't believe that behavior is even legal and it's definitely morally bankrupt....overall it's just GREED

Please detail how you've lost out financially from this change?

SteamDB reported just recently that they were removed from the partner documentation.

No official word that I've seen but speculation is that this means they are gone.

That was always the case, as usually only some indie devs gave coupons out.....and often it was only those of games no one cared about and not the better known ones.

I said from every change they make like the pending market bs and untradeable for a week, but yeah when you don't get a third item from crafting badges like always you lose being able to trade the item or use the item which equals saving money or gaining an item you can use so....there's that. When you can't use a coupon or get a game on sale they make more and we make less, that's how they roll...their actions show this and that is why they never announce anything or even discuss anything.

Of course, back when coupons were really a thing, they didn't have 52 sales a year. Nobody needs coupons any more, if they ever did.

As for "you can't trade them". . . I'm really getting the idea that trading/the market/etc should never have happened. There's too much silliness attached to it (all the scams, all the hacked/phished accounts, all the annoyance over 'pending'. . .)

Saw a coupon not too long ago when a user wanted to sell it on the forums...

Well there's your problem.

(I'm really curious - why would anyone "spend" to get their totally-meaningless "level" higher?)
We have sales now, because I have never got a coupon
