steam shows me as offline

i mean my name on the top right corner of the app on windows is gray instead of blue. what does it mean? no im not in offline mode

The friends list indicates the online status. If it's not logged in or on invisible, you'll show as offline.

okay so here's the thing, when i click on "friends" on the top left, it does show the tick next to offline. i click Online, and it does not change.

Can sometimes take up to 15 minutes to change. Status is not really real-time.

I've noticed at least that when I go offline, it'll usually take 15 minutes before the blue border goes away.

I had the same thing and for some reason it fixed itself

You are in Family share this explan alot if this is why you are not online and have a blueish name, if other post is right about it.

Try test this to confirm this. ( i and other did not made FS, we can only point at with why there is a issue with it. )

I had to close the program without going offline first which i normally do.

When i close Steam, i dont just close it but go off line first.

If something goes wrong with steam or my internet then i can still play my games in offline.

If i just close the thing down and my internet goes off, and they do go down sometimes, then i can still play.
