A typical scammer message in chat appears like this https://imgur.com/a/Aar7aet
Thanks
Here the thing there always scammers going out of their way to make anything, and everything look legit to scam people. This kind of scam been going on for decades where people losing their emails, accounts, and all kinds of things to scammers, the real problem is when people act 1st before thinking, or else none of this would be happening, you wouldn't be here either yet here we are.
The problem is that once Scammer get access to your account on their device they try to remove everything, or sit on your account to do scam later like adding new scam friend, trick you to trade, and repeat scam to all your friends.
do you think their main target is inventory with this scam? they cant reach over to our credit cards that we used for steam right? And i am sorry for your loss.
Because they fall for the same thing. The hijacker turns around and uses their account to spam the links to their friends and on and on...
Doesn't matter, my oldest friend could send me a completely innocent looking link through chat and I would not click it and would most likely promptly remove & block the friend. At the end of the day everyone is a stranger on the internet so act accordingly and don't be such an easy target.
It's literally not a skill or talent to keep oneself from falling for stupid scams on Steam or the internet in general.
Also do yourself a favor and stop believing that it's your special day to get a free blessing of a gift card or new game playtest or rare knife skin or whatever else you people fall for.
Steam Gaurd is irrelevant for these types of phishing links.
What i meant is they couldnt pull out my money or my items from my account because of steam guard.
