If your controller's vibration isn't working in games, but it works when you identify it in the control configuration, there could be a few things to check:

Check that the game you're playing has vibration support for controllers. Some games don't support vibration, or they may require you to enable it in the settings.

Make sure that Steam's controller settings are properly configured for your controller. You can do this by going to Steam > Settings > Controller > General Controller Settings. From here, you can calibrate your controller and make sure that vibration is enabled.

Check that your controller is properly connected to your computer. If your controller is wireless, make sure that it's properly paired with your computer. If it's wired, make sure that the cable is properly connected.

If none of the above steps work, try resetting your controller to its default settings. You can do this by going to Steam > Settings > Controller > Reset to Default Settings.

Hopefully one of these steps will help you get your controller vibration working again!

I told this would happen. This issue cannot be fixed as it´s hardware-related. Your processor simply can no longer detect the input (vibration is a form of input) and will ignore it instead = controller will not rumble. Xboxes and Playstations have this issue as well because they use same/similar processor.

And this is what i call "phase 4". Future racing-games will simply no longer have vibration-feature at all, since it would no longer work, no matter what they would do. Exception: If they further downgrade the games.

2024, same issue here. No fix works and I'm not going to leave the Beta because of Steam Families

Landed here trying to find an answer.
Also using steam beta, no rumble on first player controller. 3 other similar controllers work just fine.
Also using new family sharing so cannot revert back :)

My issue is that some games work with my controller wireless, but some only work with it plugged in (when it's fully charged either way)

Any fix for this? even without steam I don't get vibration using Xbox and PS5 edge from native games , it's wired and it doesn't even work on laptop or fresh 24h2 os. I have no idea what is going on

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
