hi, i got the cloud save, what do i need to do with them?
With the game closed -- if that's still a thing; before you close it make sure you have all you want from that cloud storage location lest it be potentially overwritten -- put that recovered file back from where it came, as for most games listed on PCGamingWiki. A cloud sync will/should then ask you what to do; choose to upload local files.
where in the saved games folder does savedfames_slot1_game01.gamesavedata belong?

https://www.savegameworld.com/pc-lego-marvel-super-heroes-2-savegame/ would imply that you'd save/rename that as (using default paths for your Steam install) -- NOTE; with Steam or at least the game closed --

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<steamid>\647830\remote\savedgames\slot1\game01.gamesavedata

A note is that that's Steam cloud-sync location, and perhaps it's useful/necessary to (also) put it under as per https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Lego_Marvel_Super_Heroes_2

%APPDATA%\Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment\LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2\

Former is likely enough; they have supposedly tested things to work. A further note is that %APPDATA% is a Windows environment variable that you can use as is in e.g. a file-explorer location bar; it's normally C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming but that AppData is a hidden folder by default.

Finally, that if problems remain it might be better to ask in the game-specific forum; I have no idea about that specific game.

Reviving a dead thread, but I've got a solution as long as you act fast. Just ran into this with my copy earlier, my kid accidentally hit new game and overwrote my save with 75% completion. As long as you don't restart your PC, you should be able to go into he physical save folder, and restore all of the files to their previous version through the properties option when you right click. I was able to restore each file to a version from a few days ago. Worked on Windows 11 just a few minutes ago, got my 75% completion back!

It is safe to assume their pc has been restarted in the past 2 years.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
