GabeN's official stance is what it is in the KB article you linked.
You don't know that. None of us know that.
And that's the last time I'm replying to anyone that says something like this and anyone else who sympathizes with my post please don't reply to people saying things like this or trying to antagonize us. It leads to nowhere.
Just block them at least that's what I'm going to do.
It's the official word from everyone at Valve hence, the official support KB article from Valve.
Just like the XP and Vista KB article in 2019...

If you don't complain nothing changes, hence why letting our voices be heard is important. And the only one that needs to hear it is that is important is Gabe.
And our problem is just as immediate of a problem is anybody else is, we are being barred from playing our games. That's an extremely important problem since the whole reason for Steam's existence is to play games.
I'm now going to have to politely block you as what we need is harmony and unity, there's no need for discourse and anyone who wants to keep bashing on us and treat our problem as if it's not important at all is not worth the time of a reply sorry.
I don't know if you understand how important this is, millions of users of Steam unless they purchase a new PC or upgrade their OS (by force basically with our games hostage) will be blocked from accessing Steam and our games.
Just because it does not effect you doesn't mean it is not important.
Considering the problem isn't going into effect until 9-months from now, it is certainly not as immediate as someone who needs a refund on a purchase, or help recovering their account now.
Your choice to block whomever you want. Just keep in mind I never said anything about Windows 7/8 support being dropped. I merely warned you that your desire to pester Support for a different response isn't going to net you a different decision.
And support can not do anything about it. They will just close the ticket and direct you to the forums.
They will not forward your message to Gabe and they can not give you his personal contact info.
All it will do is slow support down for people that they can help.
Same posts were made for Windows XP and Vista and support was still dropped on the day they announced.

I live in a region with a very long history of Valve doing anti-consumer things. Including:
Leaving games in a pre-release state for months after their international and (in some cases) local release dates.
Pushing back release dates (on Steam only) by several months literally 5 minutes before they should have unlocked. And in some cases, even the publisher didn't know this had happened.
Removing games from the region on release and then not unlocking those games for people who had purchased them while there were still being sold.
Falsely advertising the availability of titles (and this still happens today).
But none of this compares to the depreciation of an operating system. That is beyond Valve's control. And Valve have informed you how you can retain access. Trust me, that's them being a lot more consumer friendly than they ever were with the examples I listed. Back on Valve's old forums--back when Valve staff still publicly posted--I had a reputation within Valve of being highly critical of them because of how my region was treated.
The difference here is that I recognise that dropping support for operating systems that even the developer no longer supports is a necessity of the age. It's not something Valve have reasonable control over and they must consider how best to protect themselves and the countless Steam users who are not very good at keeping their accounts under their own control. Supporting an OS that is no longer getting security updates is a disaster waiting to happen.
Of course if people don't unite then nothing will happen.
United we stand, divided we fall.
Like I sad again, our problem is a real problem, if you were going to get blocked from accessing your games you would think so too.
Listen dude, millions of users are going to lose access to our games this is a PROBLEM and Steam Support is for problems. I know Valve wants to get rid of us but at the moment we are still there customers for 1 year so our problems are just as important as other people is problems.
They are not going to change anything if we wait for 9 months, it takes time and things to change these decision the only chance at changing anything is 1-2 month period of the announcement.
And yes I block people who keep ganging up on me to antagonize me and say how wrong I am for being frustrated I will be blocked from accessing all my steam games I paid money for and be unable to play with my friends and family. And I'm sure other windows 7 and 8 users feel the same too.
And it's not pestering, this is a legitimate PROBLEM stop trivializing our problem you're not the one losing access to your games millions of others are...
