Let me repeat, NOTHING is wrong with it, it is just OLD.
If you agree that anyone should lose access to the games they rightfully own, because they use old OS/Hardware, then please do the following steps to confirm your entry into the "Always NEW Club!" by doing these three easy steps!
- Ditch your phone if it's not running the latest OS version.
- Get rid of your car if it's not a 2023 model.
- Move out of your apartment/house if it hasn't been built in 2023.
Remember kids, new is always the best! Sustainability, health of the planet and preservation of old things will get you kicked out in no time! Tell your friends!
thoughts and prayers
It's an insecure system for transactions.
It's too insecure to be trusted on an online platform.
It does not support the security certificates needed these days.
It doesn't even support modern GPU's, CPU's, Memory, Motherboards, etc etc
It couldn't even keep up with technology of the time, like USB 3.0, yet Linux could.
It also has vulnerabilities that are so bad, if someone got your IP address, they could easily bypass any firewall you own or use, take control of the Group Policy Editor of all things remotely, allowing anyone full system control from there with the Windows 7 user being none the wiser.
And these vulnerabilities can't even be fixed with 0patch that people are foolishly relying on.
Remember, that in the technology world, you're over a century behind.
By Steam's own admission, their DRM is to prevent "casual piracy". It is not to prevent anything more than that.
Their DRM alone is very easily bypassed. The only way they affected piracy is through convenience and ease of access.
Exactly, so you should get rid of your phone if its not running latest everything, because security! See, I care about it too! Same goes with your car! Your 1 year or more older car has increased chances to crash, so getting a new one should be a top priority! Get rid of that old junker asap! Your apartment wasn't built in 2023? Was it PERHAPS built in previous century? Think about YOUR security! It COULD collapse sooner than an apartment built in 2023! You should call the demo-squad immediately to deal with it, even before you buy a brand new 2023 apartment/house!
Jokes aside, your reasons are invalid. Security is up to the individual using the computer rather than the OS itself. If you are doing sketchy stuff, no amount of security will help you online, other than LAN cable being unplugged. It does not matter what it supports and what it doesnt, thats the user's problem. If the user wants to use it like they have for the past years, they should be able to, without people like you trying to take their games away because of their security, which lets be honest, you and everyone else here don't give a flying F about in reality and are just using it to make your point seem strong and valid.
The games are still there and always will be. You refusing to advance with the times is strictly due to your own negligence and ignorance.
The fact you're complaining about it exemplifies said ignorance.
It doesn't have to be invasive if they don't want it to be.
