Windows 7 Support Ending - Refunding my Entire Library?
So let me get this straight, my games that run fine on Windows 7 I can no longer access past a certain point? If this is the case I will be talking to my bank and refunding my entire games library. I have zero interest in upgrading my hardware or Operating system.

Does this not violate consumer or anti-trust laws?

When I started using Steam I never agreed for them to control what hardware and operating system I can use, especially considering all of the games I play support Windows 7.

Not sure what OT5 is, but Simcity Societies works by enabling framework 2.0 in windows features.
Oregon Trail 5, we shorten it.
And no that only works IFF (if and only if) it is v1.0.0.6 SCS original version or
v1.1.0.273 Destinations expansion pack, which still run with issues. Which you have to hunt down as most of the ones are the v1.0.4.243 SCS or v1.0.4.270 Destinations any way as the they were patched to solve a lot of the performance issues. Again I play lots of older games along with new ones. And since getting my 2016 laptop was trying to load as many games to take with me on trips to play in the evening after work and found out the joys of win10 on the road.
I don't have destinations, but only error I got was framework 2.0, once enabled on features worked just fine.

Keep in mind this is also not a windows 7 game and had many reported issues on 7 as well.

So my question still stands, what windows 7 game, doesn't work on 10?

Windows 7 was the real progress from previous version, it really changed the OS for better, whatever came after windows 7 is just a clone with different looks and forced updates, plus privacy risks. That was when the real advancement has stopped and turned into "business" and a fashion.

Windows XP had to change practically. Windows 7 doesn't have to change, it's perfect as is.
That. Is. Your. Opinion. See? Subjective and Microsoft has better things to do than listen to your subjective bs. I could always say XP was the best thing in the world. WHY do they not support it anymore?! I am so mad. Nah. We have to learn to move on with new reqs.

Yeah microsoft has better things to do.. like releasing ♥♥♥♥♥♥ OS and collecting your data. Also the xbox brand doesn't seem to be looking too well....

Windows 7 is totally functional and could be there forever for those who need only that; It is expiring only because developer of it made windows versions a fashion.

You can wear old clothes or old style clothes whenever you like, it still functions as clothing, has pockets and everything you need (It could be also cheaper), the only difference is, it's not mainstream, so people will look you in a weird way, but that's not important at all for the wise.
Bad analogies, bad analogies everywhere. Stop it. You all try to find the worst arguments to try to keep windows 7 but it is NOT here to stay forever. Windows 7 is no longer supported by Microsoft, therefore no longer as secure as windows 10 anyway. It's dead, get over it.

Win10 is buggier than any OS I've ever used.. and definitely has plenty of security flaws, if you want security then use linux or mac tbh. Not to mention has many of the same issues that have been present since windows ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ vista lmao

Then you haven't used many, have you? Man, can't you Windows 7 holdouts stop lying for one single minute?
there are licenses with win11 22H2 key at 10€ on amazon
I did this worked fine for me except this key activated Win10 22H2 because my processor is not compatible with Win11 (AMD phenomII x4 965)
looks like there are Win11 22H2 and Win10 22H2 which must be very similar.
WIn10 22H2 solves all nvidia driver issues (1060gtx 6gb zotac) it's the only way to properly update your drivers without installing any third party program...
win7 works great except you will be stuck everywhere except for games of its era

im using 21h2, with gtx 1060 6gb, without problems, with updating the driver.
22h2 has nothing interesting for me, so im not adding it, as it is optional.

Windows 10 21H2 goes EOL on June 13, 2023, and can be updated to 22H2 quickly.
Windows 11 21H2 goes EOL on October 10, 2023, but will take longer to upgrade.

I guess June will be when the 22H2 one stops being optional?

For Windows 10, yes, but at least the bits are already downloaded into WinSxS, just needing an enablement package to update the hardlinks in the target folders.

Yeah, that's very strange. When I got my new desktop in 2019 with Windows 10, I reinstalled all my disc games I had on my Windows 7 machine. Societies included. I tested every one to make sure it worked. Like I've said elsewhere, the only game I had that didn't start on Windows 10 was Hidden Mysteries: Titanic in my Steam Library. No issues with any other game, including Societies.

Honestly, the biggest headache I had with 10 was figuring out whether to go with Hyper-V or Third Party for my VMs. I ended up going with Virtual Box as it has less issues running older and non Microsoft OSes than Hyper V (which I still use on my 2008 R2 server). I had a lot more issues getting games to work when I went from XP to Vista/7.

Funnily enough, if I had followed the directions here.

And just set the launcher to compatibility mode, I'd have been able to skip going into Windows Features.

You mean launch it on .NET Framework 4 when it targeted 2/3?

Yep lol

Also, found the OT5?

I can buy it later and test, just never been a fan of those games is all. I hated the original when was younger, so never was interested in other versions of it.
a Steam/Valve/Linux operating system directly installed on the PC without going through Microsoft would be nice, wouldn't it?
OK I'm dreaming, :steamhappy:I'm going out :steamfacepalm:

Linux doesn't have to go through Windows to be installed.

Linux doesn't have to go through Windows to be installed.
Except when you use an existing Windows PC to flash a USB key with a Linux distro using Rufus. (note Rufus requires Windows 8 or greater currently)
