I might choose that option, but I'd still like to know what happens in my scenario
Your screenshots and other stuff are under your userdata folder, which doesn't move.
Back up the base Steam folder first, with or without the steamapps/common folder, which will be your games, and therefore be massive, then just move the Steam folder to the new drive, and Steam should take care of everything. Just remember that it's the steamapps/common folder, and not the steamapps/ folder, because the config files for your games are under that, and if you break those, you need to redownload the game.
Oh, and, obviously Steam should not be running when you do this.
