Can you post link to workshop mods or is that advertising?

Some months ago I posted a thread about save our ship rimworld, and was accused of being either paid to advertise for it or being the author and that advertising wasn't allowed on steam

around same time I posted a name (not a link, just a name) to a mod list in skyrim since someone was looking for it, and was accused of being the OP on an alt advertising for that mod. I guess they thought people asked for mods pretending to look for them, but in their mind anyone replying was their alt "advertising"

Instead of being potentially banned, as don't want that on my record, I deleted the mentioned thread and reply I made to person.

Was that just a troll that was following me around, or is that actually not allowed?

Advertising isn't allowed. Such as positing a thread with the aim of specifically driving people to a certain mod, game, or whatever.

But if someone is asking for a certain type of mod, game suggestions, or whatever, then posting a suggestion isn't advertising.

ah ok, well in the second case I don't think thats allowed either then. I did that in the skyrim hub and was accused of being an alt of the OP advertising for that mod (list). Didn't even post a link, just name of it.

To add, if this is wrong can let me know. But its super easy to make a 5 dollar alt steam account (or whatever minimum dollar is these days) and advertise for things by pretending to look for it. So pretty sure you can't even LOOK for a mod.

If I am wrong, then I guess thats a loophole lol. Doesn't seem it should be allowed

You can post links to free mods in the game forum for the game the mod is for.

You can not post adverts of any type, or any game related threads here in the steam related sub-forums.

Asking about mods or game suggestions are only allowed in the steam off topic sub-forum.

The Stream Discussions sub-forum is only for questions relating to using the Steam Client, the Steam App, or the steam Website UI. all other features of steam including the steam deck, valve anti cheat, pc equipment and OS, have their own sub-forum.

Rants about steam belong in the off-topic sub-forum.

id think advertising a part of steam is not advertising. unlike advertising a brand of shoes.
