I remember when the steam forums were about discussing the games and helping people with tech issues or the game-play. Now there is a epidemic of threads from the anti-woke activists on steam. Look at most of the new games being released and you will see their complaints and demands. It's at the point that people can't discuss games on steam without having to deal with this group. What is the solution?

From reading these threads the anti-woke have indicated they want these things removed from games:

Black people
♥♥♥ people
Lesbians
Any minority that isn't Japanese or Chinese.
Anyone who has a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ preference or identity that isn't straight
Anyone who isn't straight white male or Japanese/Chinese removed from jobs in the games industry
Any reference to sexism, racism or bigotry
Women in the games industry

Women get called men or trans by these groups if they look like:

Normal everyday adult looking woman
Women that have a mature voice
Women that have a chin larger then a small child's
Women that dress normally and not like a adult cosplay artist or adult actress
Women who take a strong or intelligent role in a game centered around a White Male.

What the anti-woke seem to want based on their threads:

White straight men
No chins
big chests
Young looking east Asian school girls
Lolicon anime girls
High pitched school girl voices
More lolicon Avatars for their profiles
All women to be dressed like either school girls or adult cosplay stars
Games industry jobs to only be given to white straight men

Does this sound like reasonable demands to you valve?

Should we tolerate these demands and the bigotry aimed at a significant amount of men and women on your platform?

These forums have become 90% US politics with all the hate that comes with that. Maybe its time for a no politics rule.

The solution would to stop both the woke and the anti-woke creating threads and placing the blame on each other for their own biases while asking leading questions which will cement those biases.




And finally this is not about wanting things removing nor not wanting them included, it is about having things forced onto those who simply want to play for example Dragon Age Veilguard without all the unnecessary lecturing throughout the narrative about inclusion.

unfortunately easy solutions don't tackle the true issue which is the trope that "both sides are as bad as eachother"

one is aligned with racism, bigotry and generally all the awful sides of politics and religion and the other is simply about accepting differences.

I strongly disagree. I passed on half of the new games I have bought in the last few years not because they had a little, but because they bombarded it. Its being pushed in most games now, hence the complaining about it.

That would be like saying karate isnt in every game. Ok but its all over the homepage and store page and everywhere else. Its something not everyone has to be into. It shouldnt be forced on people. Even if people dont believe in it because of their religion or whatever, people should accept that too, not go psycho rage on the world until their ears are just tired of it, like you would probably be tired of karate after a while. You see that from Mark aka Grummz on twitter who proudly indicates that a perfect dev team are all white straight men and you see the same disgusting comments here just hidden within walls of text.

The objectification of women and sexism in mainstream games is coming towards an end, and more realistic representation of women are replacing them. Of course, some of those boy gamers who grew up surrounded by sexism and the objectification of women are going to be angry about it and going on a political crusade. To them, women are them sexist tropes they grew up with and the objectification that came with it. Women are only useful to them so long as they arouse them.

Games are far more mainstream now, a significant amount of women and people from all walks of life play them. More people from far more countries have access to games than ever before, and that comes with more minorities having access to games. That's why the games market has changed.

Many countries are far more accepting of LGBT & minorities than America, and that is where American Politics conflicts with the millions out there who didn't grow up with the same hatred and prejudices. A significant amount of the rest of the world see this culture war as immature, bigoted, paranoid and toxic.

To some visitors to these forums, minorities are seen as tropes and stereotypes, they grew up with them tropes. Minorities have been portrayed as the villain to be feared in American politics for decades, and that's why there's a conflict when they get included in games too.



The paranoia from certain people over consultant companies is extremely irrational & results in threads being spammed on every new game. These activists don't know that most businesses have been hiring consultant companies for decades. Part of the reason for that is to adhere to the laws of their own country, as well as laws elsewhere in the world.

Over the last 20 years there have been many laws introduced tackling racism, discrimination and sexism. Business's have to adhere to them laws or be fined, and that does end up in games as a direct result and to appeal to a market that is more representative of the world.

Im GenX. We didnt care about race, at all. We all still generally get along. Just now liberals talk about race 24/7 for no reason like they have some kind of mental issue about it. The stuff millennial liberals say is not only never true, its rude, and insane. Also I can tell you that growing up in the part of USA that liberals say is the most racist part, where people walk around with cowboy hats and all that, there is no racism. Blacks there dress the same way too. These liberals just have to talk about it nonstop for some reason.
