completely understand your frustration with the lack of clear compatibility information, especially for games like *Silent Hill 2* and *Path of Exile 2*. Here are a few tips to help navigate these situations:
**1. Use ProtonDB**
For Steam Deck compatibility, check [ProtonDB](https://www.protondb.com/). It's a community-driven platform where players share their experiences with games on Steam Deck. While not official, it’s often more up-to-date than waiting for Steam's official evaluations.
**2. Look for the "Verified" Badge**
Steam marks games with one of these labels for Deck compatibility:
- **Verified**: Fully compatible.
- **Playable**: May require some manual tweaking.
- **Unsupported**: Currently not working on Steam Deck.
- **Unknown**: No evaluation yet.
If a game is "Unknown," you can wait or check community forums like the game’s Steam discussions for updates from other Deck users.
### **3. Controller Support on PC**
For PC setups like yours, ensure that the games have full controller support in the Steam Store under the **Input** section. Even without a Deck, this ensures smoother gameplay if a controller is required.
**4. Refund Policy**
If you buy a game and it doesn’t work on Steam Deck or with your preferred setup, Steam’s refund policy allows you to request a refund if:
- You’ve played the game for **less than 2 hours**.
- The purchase was made within the last **14 days**.
Keep this in mind as a fallback option.
**In Summary**
I agree it would be great if Steam could provide compatibility info faster, but resources like ProtonDB and community forums can help bridge the gap. I hope this helps! Let me know if you have more questions. 😊
Also searching Youtube for game name+SteamDeck finds a lot of videos where people try the newest releases on handhelds like the SteamDeck, Rog Ally and so onward.
So far i never had a problem finding something when i looked how something would run on my Rog Ally.
I'm glad I could help! You're definitely not alone—many people are looking for clearer info on game compatibility, especially for Steam Deck. If you ever have more questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out. Happy gaming! 🎮✨
Valve is often hampered by the same ambiguity you are, especially if the game is still in development like Path of Exile 2 is.
For Silent Hill 2, they have clearly determined that it isn't Deck compatible.
Steam has an entire article for developers explaining the process and how to configure their game to be Deck compatible.

Steam's review process will provide feedback to the developers and it's up to the developers at that point to decide what to do with that feedback.
Please don't think you can pull a fast one when there are simple AI checkers out there that confirm what we all know from just looking at your post ourselves.
But here's the results from QuillBot's AI detector which you can verify yourself by copy and pasting your own first post into it.
For that matter, even this response of yours is tagged as 100% AI generated.
Don't worry, I've checked with other people's posts and my own text to ensure the detector isn't faulty. It's not.
I am also happy, there is a discussion in the community for solving problems!
