You can no longer import STEAM games into Launchbox even doing it correctly:

There was a tutorial showing you how to do it on Youtube by Unbroken Software AKA Whiny Jason Note: (He open bans users left and right from LB forums over the slightest infractions (even imaginary ones or phantom bans where users 'mysteriously' cannot log in) Mysterious my behind.

I'm guessing he only wants paid users who do the Big Box premium mode to remain to peddle his wares)

Anyways the point is the tutorial guide no longer works. You can play with it all day and night and you WON'T get anywhere it will always end in 'Your account cannot be accessed' even though your logged into Steam just fine. Either it's broken on Jason's end that controls Launchbox's meta information.updates,etc

OR Steam has done something internally at a global level effecting all users for security reasons and it affects Launch Box's abilities to access and scrap your games to it. I don't know if this is just a Steam thing or if other store fronts can no longer be scrapped by it.

The fact your logging into a 3rd party site with your Steam credentials is a hijacking waiting to happen.
Logging into ANY site outside of Steam with your Steam login, could lead to your account getting compromised and thus stolen.

Also Steam acts as a game launcher already. Why do you need another app to launch your games?

It's a big frontend for managing your own collection of windows games as well as emulators,etc. Steam is the only thing that has trouble on it because of custom ID. It never could find my account even though I'm logged in just fine. I did it once a long time ago and was going to update it as I love the organization.

Haven't thought about Launchbox in a LONG time. Considering I can't see ANY discussion of Steam import issues anywhere other than this thread, this sounds like a distinct you problem. I would have tested it, but seeing as they're harvesting e-mail addresses now by requiring input to access the download, I'll never give them another thought.

I passed on Launchbox because it put the feature I was after the most behind a paywall, but with Playnite I had to generate an API key before it would import my Steam library after which it's worked without incident.

I just like to reiterate what was said earlier. It doesn't matter how trustworthy you think a site is. If you are using your Steam login information to log into that site, your account is at risk of being hijacked. You are not supposed to use your login credentials for Steam on anything but the Steam client.

The Steam openid login can be used by third party sites to let people login/create an Account with their steam credentials...... and this Tool is using that (i assume).

I can't speak for Launchbox, but Playnite defers to the Steam website for authentication. If you have a strong password and use the mobile authenticator then the risk of your account being hijacked is probably fairly low.

The other thing is I recommend playnite as it's free open source, does pretty much everything anyone wants, and even has controller support. I haven't used launch box in such a long time, don't see myself needing to either, but if one really want to use it, it best to ask in launch box own forums, or keep checking for updates guide to setting it up.

Now that you mentiin it I was on 12 then it updated to 13.1.

🤣🤣🤣🤣 They ban people over there over the slightest infractions and now people are saying you can't even register without being 'auto banned' before even posting a single thing which is worse then when I tried.

I don't think you saw what I read. I've finally figured out I'm likely dealing with bots on here so not going to waste a moment's more time!

Thank you. At least your not a bot and somewhat attempted to help. Is it a front end like Launch box? I once almost tried Hyperspin but have heard many a horror stories in those stormy seas. Ships tend to go down and NOT come back up.

I generated an API key on Launchbox after setting a custom URL and while it looked like it found my games nothing showed up as I saw 'America Truck Simulator' being scanned as one of the iirst things due to it being the letter A.

I did this a year or so ago and wanted to update my collection since I had to install Steam in a different folder but the same tutorial doesn't work anymore so I think it has to do with the update to 13.1. Anyway to downgrade LB without having to rescan everything? Would it even help if I went that route and rescanned my collection on an older Launchbox or maybe have it be a separate version just for Steam?

When it worked it was a handy way and it doesn't do anything but scan your collection.
