About the Malware on Steam and their Hackerone program
Long story somewhat short.

Steam doesn't check the updates for game and one of them had malware.
I had multiple accounts stolen, had to factory reset my PC, lost a ton of data.
Steam credited my account with some funds based on their hackerone program.
They took several months to reply to my support tickets only to insta close them and now instantly close any ticket I make about the situation.

I simply want to know why I was credited wallet funds for an issue that caused me to lose actual data, time and money but they refuse to address it.

Thinking of taking legal action since they are refusing me support now for questioning mistakes they made.

Anyone else had a similar problem?

Depot?
The game had a demo before yesterday.
Maybe they do, they still failed.
It was not my end or Steam would not have considered it a job done.

But, if it actually contained malware, wouldn't it have been prevented from releasing on the store?

Valve doesn't give you any guarantees that what is served out through Steam is virus-free.

It's literally in the SSA:
C. NO GUARANTEES

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, NEITHER VALVE NOR ITS AFFILIATES GUARANTEE CONTINUOUS, ERROR-FREE, VIRUS-FREE OR SECURE OPERATION AND ACCESS TO STEAM, THE CONTENT AND SERVICES, YOUR ACCOUNT AND/OR YOUR SUBSCRIPTION(S) OR ANY INFORMATION AVAILABLE IN CONNECTION THEREWITH.

They put in the effort, sure. But there's no bulletproof way to absolutely 100% surely prevent distribution of any malware whatsoever. And anyone claiming to contrary doesn't know what they're talking about or is selling you snake-oil. Not even Apple and Google can guarantee apps distributed via their mobile app stores are malware-free and they put in tons upon tons of resources to try and check for it.

Like Lead.

As I have said. Ask the dev if you want proof. He might deny for the reasons I gave.
No one needs to ask anyone for any proof. As I said in my message: Steam has never distributed any malware or virus. NEVER. Not even once. It's literally not possible with the steam network. What you claimed is impossible and never could of happened. You made up the entire thing.

If it's literally not possible - why are they excluding liability for it?

Because the lawyers had to put that in there for legal reasons. I suppose that there could potentially be a very minute chance something could some how get through their system's scanners. But it's never happened yet in the entire history of Steam's existence. The probability of that happening is so far from reality that we may as well call it impossible at this point.

None of that changes anything and you are trying to deflect from the conversation. So far as of the time of writing my comment here steam has not distributed anything with malware or viruses. Not for this user starting this thread and not for anyone else as of yet.

So you ignored my explanation of why it's not some big public thing?
There's nothing to ignore. It's not a big public thing because it did not, can not, and will not happen. Steam can't possibly distribute viruses or malware. Anyone attempting to claim that such things came from steam is completely fabricating it. I don't know what your agenda is but you are making it up. If you're trying to troll people you're doing a terrible job of it. We can see right through your words.

The fact that not only do you want to not believe be but you think it's impossible for it to happen is a testament to where your mind is at. You're a waste of time. Really don't see what the point of you being here is.

How ironic, you calling others trolls.

You constantly refuse to prove your claims, until you do nobody will believe you. You've been at it for two days, it's time to show some evidences...

"Prove it prove it"

Stop crying for proof. I do not care if you believe the claim itself cause at the end of the day it's not relevant to the question I asked.

asking for proof when proof is clearly provided in context is simply trying to scapegoat the problem. Alot of steam forum conversation is based around scapegoating, there needs to be a generalize understanding that providing the context of a situation defines it as possible and the possibility is all the proof needed to justify its existence.

It could happen so it likely is happening. That is all the proof needed.

You claim a Steam update has a malware and you're unable/unwilling to prove it. That's totally relevant...

Just to say it, but Software on steam could distribute malware etc. without valve ever noticing.
No. This is not possible at all. Steam has multiple protections in place to prevent this from happening.

Of course that would be possible too.
Just because people think that something checks stuff and can not fail at all does not mean that it not can fail in detecting it........and it is not really uncommon that malware etc. only gets found months after its first release out in the wild, so why would valves systems be foolproof?

Do you want me to travel back in time and prevent the dev from removing the community posts about it and get you a copy of the files? Think for a second

Oh no, the bad dev deleted your proofs and you can't provide it anymore... I'm sorry, I totally believe your baseless claims now. :lunar2020thinkingtiger:

No need to. The T.A.R.D.I.S. works just as well...

There were several games that needed to be taken "offline" because things could happen while playing them. Not necessarily containing the bad, but "enabling the possibility".

So evidently, it is at least possible to create a "feature" that can be in a game. Or placing a link and attach it to a button in the game.

I'm here because someone has to make sure that no one thinks you were truthful in what you wrote and to make sure no one takes your comment seriously. Steam distributing viruses is so far off from reality that it's completely laughable.
