If I buy a steam gift key on fast2play and gift it to myself, do I risk getting my steam account banned?
Has it happened to someone at all? If yes, why? The way I see it its rather harmless if I gift a product to myself...

You can't "gift" keys in the first place

You should only purchase games from authorized resellers

Yes, there are no gift keys.

I don't know "fast2play" -- never heard about that one. But some shops have their own gifting, which basically makes them EMail the key somewhere else, and doesn't show it to you.

Is there a list or anything which states who is an authorized reseller?

I only know of humble bundle and amazon...

Can to. They sell steam gift keys and I have bought several steam keys from them and they have all worked, I have not bought any steam gift keys from them yet however. It has to be possible to send a steam gift to myself, why should I not be able to buy a key with my fast2play account and send it to my steam account? Or will I get banned if I do?

"Keys" are a string of numbers and letters.

You can't gift these through Steam.

If you activate a key, it will be added to your library, where you cannot gift it.

Doesn't mean they are authorised sellers. For all you know, they are forging keys or stealing them from physical boxes or spam-purchasing them from bundles.

Yes, but if I buy a steam gift with my fast2play account, why should I not be able to send it to my e-mail that is assosiated to steam? The whole point of a "gift" key is that I can send it to someone, right? Or do the people at valve see that as I am scamming them if I do send it to myself?

You need to learn the difference between a "gift" and a "key". They are not the same thing.

Gifts, as far as Steam is concerned, can only be purchased on the Steam store. They are sent to someone on your friend list, or to an Email address, or you add it to your inventory for later.

A key is a code where you redeem a game onto an account, which is then permanently tied to it.

As far as I am aware, sites like fast2play only sell keys, not gifts.

I'm unsure if a gifted game can be added to the inventory for re-gifting.

If you are unsure, then surf to fast2play website and type "gift" in the search field and you will see a lot of steam gifts.

And I am aware about the difference between gift and key. What you seem to be unaware about is that there is a third thing: a "gift key", a key I can gift to someone.

And I see no reason why I could not send the key to myself as I have one account on fast2play and one on steam.

There's no such thing as a "gift key" on Steam. If it's something specific to the store you're planning to buy from, it would probably best to ask there if what you're wanting to do can be done.

You can "gift" a key to someone by just telling them what the key is.

I can create a new account and name it "steamgiftslikecrazy" or something like that, buy a lot of cheap steam gift keys (they are cheaper than normal keys) and use the account "steamgiftslikecrazy" to gift a lot of products to my other account.

But I don't know what valve say about that, I haven't studied the EULA. Someone who can tell me if I will get banned if I do?

If I don't take a risk doing that, I will do it

That site shouldn't be selling keys, buyer beware.
