COD Modern Warfare 2 Needs People's Phone Numbers To Play Online now?
I don't understand why Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 needs to have phone numbers to play online now? Not everyone wants to put a phone number in their Steam account to play in multiplayer in a video game, what's wrong with our emails, it doesn't make any sense.
It's a way for hackers to have the advantage to get our phone numbers to make prank calls on us or even worse. This has to change immediately, because it's not fair to stop someone from playing online in a video game.

btw... Everything you do in the game is "always online" which includes single player.

Their system was partially broken when released and many players got to play it without adding their numbers but they finally patched that issue (odd they patched that and not the countless other big issues) and it now asks everyone who didn't already supply one before to do it now.

Im mostly on multiplayer a lot I don't care for single player and campaign mode, there's no reason for having to give a phone number to play a video game. Steam and Activision will lose more people and money, buying Call of Duty due to wanting a phone number connected to it.

It prevents repeat offenders from easily getting banned and playing on a new account. Emails weren't cutting it since you can generate those free by the dozens in minutes.

It's not Valve's decision to make to keep the CoD community safe from bad people. And Activision tried everything else. They don't care.

Still, they could just ban the Steam account -- while accounts are free, the game is not (to my knowledge, anyway). So, initially, repeat-offenders will be great for their bottom line, while over time, they'll probably loose interest in being repeat-customers and stop doing whatever they were doing.

The linked game is free, WZ2/DMZ. And they do issue Game bans. Most repeat offenders don't mind paying for MP again and again. (Even Valve removed the 3 month cooldown on using the same number on a new account after getting banned in CS:GO. That's how much people are willing to pay for a game. Prime isn't free.)

And Activision already has lost much of the player base over the last 9 months because the game is bad.

Warzone 2 is free and that's where most of the cheaters lie.

I did enjoy watching all those WZ2 streamers get banned after cronus was detected.
