The New Gaming PC or is it an expensive paperweight?
I'm just looking about to see whats there in Argos land and I find this model cheapest 'gaming pc' they have
Cyberpower Ryzen 5 8GB 500GB AMD Gaming PC
https://www.argos.co.uk/product/1123302?clickSR=slp:term:pc:1:52:1

I don't know if its any good for its price of £420 just looking through the question and answers and someone asks about GTA and other games and somebody says no! it can barely do fortnite!
Yet the helpful Argos person says yes it meets the required specs to play GTA.

What do you think?
What is your budget gaming pc ?
Or do you have a serious ghetto blaster of a 2020s machine?

If it's pre-built, something has been skimped out on. Usually PSU, mobo, RAM, and/or drive quality. Pre-built "gaming" PCs are and always have been an industry scam to bleed money out of those who don't know better.

If you need a barebones gaming rig, build it yourself or commission someone with the proper knowledge

It looks good at first, then the reviews say it can not run Linux Mint but does windows great.
Other reviews said it runs hot and at 100% for anything a bit taxing.

I am no expert as can be seen by my first post.

Yeah, would be nice if big companies that dominate markets actually gave a frak about the consumer.

Right, but i only use it for 2003-2006 era games. It can't be worse than what i have now. Mr Newell is gouging us, and so a 100 bucks ain't bad for that. But i'll just wait for this PC to pass on, then maybe i'll have to git it lol.

I give you some hard truth.
- That a bad product for that price, it's way over price because you can build something with simliar parts with same specs for nearly half the price. See example this was a quick 2min put together link.
https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/scW2rv

- Yes it can run the games you said, but settings be lower than you think, which you won't like it.

Not sure why someone would say that it likely person has no idea what they're doing, or they were lock out of bios that has setting on to lock linux distos from being used with the system which I doubt.

The last part, compaines are always out to make profit, it's always best to watch for deals when retailers try to offload, or build your system when parts on sale if want to save.

Idk what stores you like to buy from, if amazon, newegg, or etc is up for you, or do you just want it from that store you linked. If it just that store you want from, and want it pre built, then you can get this one as that lowerst price I see but you could get better.

Or for bit more for better gpu again same store pre built. https://www.argos.co.uk/product/3448535?clickPR=plp:7:52

Nice!
I'll be watching this topic like a hawk and playing with that part picker site

It's a very helpful site that finds deals, also I edit my post above at the bottom.

It is a very big paperweight, unfortunately. There is only 500gb of storage, 8gb of slow 2400mhz memory, which is shared with the onboard gpu. It has pretty lights though.
Tsubame ⭐ Nov 18, 2023 @ 12:36pm
This is definitely an oversized and expensive paperweight.

Ok for everyday or office usage, but I can find regular everyday computers with better specs that are cheaper than this.

You're not being a stalker. But i like that little 100 dollar pc from Amazon lol. Of course, ALL my mods will have to be redownloaded (forgot how that was ever done years ago), if they're even still available..

Mr Newell is a stinker, that's for sure. But i have to check out Gog and all that. These games i have will cost me 40 bucks to rebuy, tops. I'll lose a few. But that mini pc is just insurance if this pc goes.

Alright find him an series s for $100, assuming OP doesn't mind waiting long queue times, and 2hrs time limit, with mandatory always online just to use cloud gaming service, with the fact you're limited what games they only allowed you to play via the cloud.

I've learned now, what i never learned years ago. NEVER listen to pc enthusiasts. 'Just plug and play it dude, just like a console'. Yeah right.

Now i'm up a creek being they left out the part "AND, have to upgrade your OS", and all your games, down the pooper.

THIS, will be my future PC, in years to come..

https://www.amazon.com/Generation-Processor%EF%BC%8CBeelink-pro%EF%BC%8CMini-Computer-Supports/dp/B09HC73GHS/ref=sr_1_3?crid=3SBOZK9MTCR05&keywords=beelink+windows+11&qid=1700337898&s=electronics&sprefix=beelink+windows+11%2Celectronics%2C108&sr=1-3&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.17d9e15d-4e43-4581-b373-0e5c1a776d5d

Along with my console and Ge Force Now to play Arma.
