Ubisoft Help
I bought some games before on Steam (Trials Fusion and The Crew) and they were linked to my Ubisoft account.

However I never liked the legacy name thing in Ubisoft so recently I requested from Ubisoft to change my legacy name but they told me this would affect achievements and rewards in games.

Instead I created a new Ubisoft account but the Ubisoft games I bought on Steam no longer work on the new Ubisoft account.

Can I remove these Ubisoft games from my Steam and rebuy them as if I never had them?

You cant rebuy games you "removed" from your account, you just get the message that you previously removed them and if you want to restore the license.
If you agree then the game is back but its still the same one as before that is locked to the same Ubisoft account as before.
Only Ubisoft Support can remove the connection between a Steam game and a Ubisoft account.

Thanks, seems dumb they do this i've had to delete the new ubisoft account and recover the old one now try change legacy name again. Ubisoft support is poor takes a week just for response! But now I can't even play the Ubisoft games errors with There was a problem authenticating the ownership of this product grrrrr

Ubisoft is just a placeholder in this context.
Everything you've done is steam centric and ubi has nothing to do with it other than whatever interface your using to cross the bridge.

It would be different if you bought the games from Ubisoft - even then - you wouldn't be able to play them on Steam - only Ubi's software.

You would have to rebuy said games on Ubi's side to remove steam from the equation.

If this is all about the Ubisoft "name" - you'd have to talk to them about it - rest is moot.
Course if Ubisoft has some DRM linkage going on - so long as you have a Steam License you're good there - the rest is just talking to Ubisoft.

So it's not possible to permanently remove the game from Steam, rebuy it on Steam and then link to a brand new Ubisoft account?

Correct.

Ehhh - you could refund the game technically (which revokes license) - but I'd suspect this won't solve anything.
