The new steam mobile app and chat

So my mobile steam app was just updated and I noticed that if I want to carry on chatting with my friends i now need to download an extra chat app. So something that worked before and looked better, got updated and now has less functionality and is more chaotic and ugly.

Nice update steam.

Why do you need to download an extra app for chat. wtf?

It’s terrible now, there was nothing wrong with how it was. Now we are stuck with one app for Steam Guard and another app for chat, like who was it that thought this was a good idea?

The difference between the two chats is that old chat can't do group chat, doesn't support Steam emotes, stickers, or chat effect, while newer chat does support all that.

I figure they would do this because when they release chat few year ago, I assume they do same to main app at some point. Just wish they optimize their app better, or even just combine the two, and optimize it. Not fan of it as can be sluggish, and have to clear cache if app suddenly became slow.

You can’t chat in the normal Steam app on phone, you have to download Steam Chat as a separate app on your phone like Facebook Messenger.

Three ways to use chat.

- Steam client chat
- Web browser chat
- Mobile Steam chat app.

Only the mobile Steam guard app updated removing old chat.

Unless I'm misunderstanding you, this is not accurate.

I used emotes, stickers and other things during chat, on my mobile and desktop.

Steam doesn't have a windows mobile app, so if you want to use steam guard or even chat with your friends from steam on your windows mobile you can't, but with this app its possible.

The old chat on the Steam guard mobile app that got replace just recently can't do group chat, stickers, steam emotes like so , and chat effects, when do emotes, or such it just display as text, not the image. Hope that clears things up.

Omg whyyyy it was so simple and easy before. Now we need two apps. One for steam authenticator and one for steam chat, the two things I barely use on mobile, not worth having either app now.
