At the same time heavily censor them to the point where publishers become afraid of releasing the full content on steam so they release cut version of it within the store to reach the global PC market and then offer a patch fix so that you can get the full experience?

If steam is celebrating VN's I will believe it if they show through actions and allow VN's like Muramasa to be available on steam. Reach out to publishers and apologize for being short sighted while promising that they will do better in the future.

Or are you saying that Valve has started to sell unedited VNs?

Pre 2018 vn that has adult content are edited to be family friendly, then the devs release 18+ patch in their website. Some vn are perfectly fine, like romance vn with 18+ scene basically nothing changed except they cut that scene, but blatant 18+ vn basically have their entire game gutted. And no, they don't release it as DLC on steam, they just tell you on community section that the 18+ content is on their website/any place other than steam.

Post 2018 vn have no such restriction, so they don't sanitize their vn first. Whether it's romance with 18+ scene or full blown 18+ simulator, they are free to release whatever they want. The pre 2018 vn some start to release their patch as DLC on steam, but most don't bother.

Exactly, steams policies are some of the most lenient of any big company. What other stores would sell "Sex With Hitler"?

But theres a line somewhere, and anime porn can start to teeter that line when you have characters that look 14. You could argue this is the art style and that characters generally look younger naturally, but I absolutely see why this is murky territory, and people who get super upset over it come off as major weirdos.

You’re advocating for censorship and for clear bias to come through from Valve. This content isn’t illegal in the US as well as many other countries. Valve needs to allow these games as long as the publishers marks them correctly and make them unavailable in counties where this content would be illegal. Valve’s inconsistency is embarrassing.

going back 2 years into the past and re-reading the first comment and it's become more obvious. When you click the visual novel category it is riddled with low effort porn so much so that it obfuscate story driven experiences to the neverland. It's no surprise why most normies when they see the word VN, they automatically attribute it to pron.
