I erased my mac on accident and downloaded steam but lost all my game progress

I lost all my game progresses after erasing my mac on accident including losing everything else. i have been playing terraria recently (me and my friend started a world) and put lots of work in it and now its gone, all my worlds and characters. i have tried to access my steam cloud since terraria is supported by cloud save but i just dont know how to get it back. pls help chat.

Unless you made a backup of your files, you are out of luck. Steam cloud is hit or miss in many cases. If you tried to download from the cloud and nothing changed, then that's the end of the story. You have had to turn it on for the game for anything to have been backed up to the cloud.

Having a good backup regime for important files has never gone out of fashion, even in 2025.

You could try some kind of filesystem recovery software, but there's a limit to how much they can find, especially when an entire drive has been reformatted.
