Should we agree to play with Racism ?
Are you ok to play with some haters or racists, poluting the tchat with toxics ideas, destroying the players teams spirit, kicking you for disagreeing them ?
It's a shame that an official gaming platform allows that kind of politics terms in-game.
What do you think about it?

Steam, are you aware that some behaviours or comments are not allowed by laws in Europe, and especially by French laws in my case?

Shouldn't it securing the players community to guarantee an equity in regard of collective rules?
Shouldn't it necessary to increase penalties or bannishment for players [or games] who does not respect some basic steams' decorum rules ?

Thanx to consider my request and for answering it.

Valve is US based. Many popular multiplayer games are not EU based and do not have to follow random rules/laws the eu or any one country comes up with. Official servers rules may differ from non official servers. You're welcome to, or not to, play the game online if your interaction with others is not to your particular desires.

Some titles are even labeled as "Online interaction may vary" for their ratings, which is enough to protect them. If you're old enough to buy games, this is not something you need to worry about.

No. We don't do that here.

If I have to listen to one side of things in games, then the other should be free to speak out as well. That, or both sides should be barred for being annoying.

That's up to the game dev and their games report feature paired with any rules they have for official servers. However, custom servers/modded servers/non-official may have different rules.

If you see posts in violation of rules and laws, report them.
If those actions are within a game, report it to the developer. Valve can only maintain actions in their own games.

The OP is basically populism: full of rhetoric & emotion whole not even describing the peiblme in any way not requiring imagination.

Man, that's sad that whole countries will arrest you for words.

The world is a rough and dirty place. Deal with it or curl up in a ball and cry.

Racism runs both ways, BLM so do WLM, RLM, in fact all lives matter; OP is your question addressed people of all races?

Are we talking here about white people talk about black or vice versa. I think the steam rules are for anybody of all colours.

Best way is to either block and ignore the chat, and then move on, or call the cyber police of France and tell them there are mean people in your match and wait until they take action.

While I agree racism is both ways and disagree with how BLM holds itself, that isn't the point of BLM.

It was originally to bring awareness to the issue of the disproportionate police action against non-whites. It unfortunately got co-opted by a lot of dishonest people who used it for personal gain.

What do you think about it?

We can't even get rid of it in real life. People are wearing that garbage loud and proud these days. But you think gaming companies are responsible for solving the human condition? You do understand how impossible that is, right?

And the problem with a platform that allows free accounts and very little identification, which is how significant portions of the Internet run, people get banned, make new accounts and begin again. For some it's just the cost of doing business.

Maybe when a person has a user Id that goes with them across the internet and ISP's and their behavior can be check and monitored, then you could get to the level of control you wish for and the level of consequences. But we're about fifty years away from that happening. Not to mention the serious cons with that sort of system.

So in the meantime expect chaos to keep reigning.

It's something you have to deal with in the real world too. The big difference is we can mute and/or block people online.

Imagine if we could do that in the real world. Someone keeps saying things you don't like? Mute them. Someone keeps bothering you? Block them. *POOF!*, now they don't exist to you. It's like they're invisible, but only to you.

We have a lot of power over what we hear or see online. Use it. Don't whine about it.

That should never happen, period.

We don't need draconian, watch everything everyone does measures for the masses because of a few bad actors or 'ignorant/uneducated/edgelord' types of people using the internet. That is not how you solve problems, that is how you create more problems of who can say what depending on who is in charge of any given isp, company or political control of a country.
