Is Steam having an issue at the moment?
I was browsing through the upcoming games list in the Steam store and it showed over 300+ titles were excluded from my search, which was weird because i haven't checked off any games and such as "ignored" and such. And when i went to my store preferences to see if there was an issue, one checkbox was labeled "accountpreferences_recommendations_localized".

Is anyone else having any weird issues regarding Steam today?

Hi, thanks for reporting the issue. The two things are semi-related, and caused by some changes to language filtering we did recently.
1. The new checkbox with the weird name was not meant to appear there, and should not anymore - just deployed the fix.
2. The filtered results in your search are due to more aggressive language filtering. We had reports from people saying they're seeing games that don't support any languages they understand (e.g. seeing Chinese only games for English speakers). We should now filter these out in discovery queue, recommendations and other places. For search specifically, we will now default language filters to your preferred languages and that's what's causing some games to be excluded. If you uncheck the English language filter in your search options, you'll see all of them (although you probably won't be able to read some of their titles).

Note also when checking the store preferences also i had zero ignored titles, so why it showed over 300 being excluded really boggled me.

Also according to other threads some people are getting dodgy game listings for early access and such, showing either free to play games or not loading anything at all.

Do you have any tags ignored?

None whatsoever, and even checking if i have any games ignored, there's zero.

If I check "All upcoming games" I have 600+ games excluded. That's related to the Adult Only filter that I don't have enabled. So check everything.

That's the thing, everything is all marked the way it should be, the only odd thing out is the checkbox in Store Preferences labeled "accountpreferences_recommendations_localized", like it was meant to be labeled something else.

Yeah, I have that showing on mine as well: https://prnt.sc/8chXhSfNxKQe

I honestly don't recall any other category there, so I am at a loss as to what it might be. I don;t check my store preferences daily, unless something really gets screwy, so I have no idea when that was added or changed.

And i can confirm other people are seeing the same situation as me from other forums. Which sucks tbh, i was planning on buying a couple of games, but while steam is faulty, i will hold out till there's a proper fix before doing so.

Kind of wondering now what new category of product they may be getting ready to add to the Steam Store, that we need a new toggle to opt-in or opt-out of seeing.
Videos coming back?
Hardware? (Some folks got a bit salty about Steam Deck being featured on their store pages for a short minute.)
Gaming accessories/physical merchandise? (Think Valve/Steam branded gaming chairs, controllers, a new console, mousepads, t-shirts, posters/digital artwork?)

I can't think of anything else that might be added, and the new checkbox does seem to be a placeholder for some new category of product.

I can't even add funds to purchase something, did they get sick of making money?

Also Dorion, sent you a PM - screenshots of your issue might be helpful if you can post some

Thank you Lukasz for the info, hope you and the team continue to do well and don't end up getting burnt out~ (7^_^)7

Dorion your issue was (likely - since there' s not much detail) an intermittent bug that should be resolved now, please let us know if you still see this behavior.
