Steam Sales on Different Countries
Hello everyone,
I have tried to find some information regarding this subject but it is hard to get an answer.
My job forces me to travel alot and i am usually at max 6 months in the same country. That means i am faced with different game prices / sales on short periods of times.
Will these purchases trigger a ban?
Would me gifting people get me banned?
For example right now rust in on sale for 26€ where my son is, but it is at 8€ where i am.

After a certain percentage of price difference you cannot gift someone a game. You won't face a ban but you're likely not going to be able to gift the game at all.

No need to change your Steam store country all the time if your permanent residence does not change.
Eliminates a lot of problems.

You will not get banned for any purchases by using different currency. The only time you get banned from steam is if you do a Chargeback, and perhaps if your account is involved in fraudulent activity.

The consensus is that you can only change your steam currency every 3 months, so as long as you have a payment method for the country you're living in, you don't have to worry about anything except the cooldown.

Generally, you can't gift games if your steam currency is different to the person you're gifting to,

1. Theres thousands of posts about the exact same Question, not sure how you couldnt find anything.

2. You say you travel because of your Job, so you dont actually live there. Which means youre technically not allowed to change your Store Region to that Place.

3. You cant gift anyway. As far as i recall, the price difference can be a maximum of 15% upwards, after that you cant gift anymore.

For point 2 What if they are moving all the time so don’t actually live anywhere so if that’s the case do you think it’s ok to change the location?
And if not do you think they have to be a citizen of said country to be able to change currency if they don’t live there

I once wanted to give the game to a friend of mine who worked on a ship and made international shipments.

Steam forbade me to make this transaction.
