steam private setting

when you go into edit profile and click private on game details, that is by design meant to hide you from showing if youre playing games. is there a reason why it stopped doing that? i just checked by going into private mode on steam profile and the game still shows im playing for example civ 6 at the moment, despite having a private account. did some update break it ?

private profile wont show you playing a game to anyone.. like now your profile is fully private i cant tell if you are online, offline, playing a game, not playing a game.

you cant, but friends can. ive tested it, im visible and playing civ 6 to my friends despite having full profile lock down

no one here can see that as you are fully private.

i also booted up bunch of games at the same time and everyone gets the pop up that i started playing x game.

doesnt change the fact that its visible to friends. im just curious what happened coz i know it used to work. now it definitely doesnt work (for me)

i mean its definitely broken or bugged. not sure if just for me or what but im on the latest version and can confirm it simply doesnt hide what youre playing in steam friends

Nah its bugged

Maybe ten days ago it actually hid any name changes in invisible mode + private profile to steam friends list

Now it doesn't. I switch to get different things done when I am not gaming
