Steam awards, anyone else notice Jester means two things?
Jester has two meanings. One your post is stupid and we think it is funny. or two it is a good joke and a funny one.

One is negative one is positive. The question is, how do you tell when a post with a lot of them is positive or negative. (trick question.)

The answer, by how dumb the persons take is. Troll posts are obvious and generally worth a good laugh. its people who give the worst takes out there that are negative and well quite funny.

anyway this ramble comes after someone told me "a high number of clown reacts means you are just really stupid." when they really need to understand that can mean two things not one.

Actually the jester award is just a picture of a lil funny clown man. Any meaning attributed to them is entirely user based.
Yasahi 1/out./2024 às 9:57
It has only one meaning: more points for the one receiving it. Anything else is made up in your own mind.

Point missed but ok. I see you guys are bad with context clues.

Everything is subjective. One could mark a serious post with a funny award as a way to mock just as much it could mean that someone found it genuinely funny.

Getting any award should just be treated the same way, with gratitude that someone found it worthy to be awarded. If it's all jesters, so be it. The problem is trying to derive a meaning from them when in the end it's just a silly Internet pic that comes.with some free Steam Points.

I think you guys are deliberately missing the OP's point. Jesters are used as passive aggressive insults on Steam.
SLAYER187 1/out./2024 às 10:23
To me it shows the said person marking themselves with it, saying they are what they are trying to symbolize someone else as. (PROJECTION) I always get a good laugh when i get them with free steam points lol. Smart people do research to try and well inform them self (LEARN) while the ones who do not assume everything.

about the same, I actually fish for them on a few topics, mostly anywhere I can piss off Nintendo fanboys. seriously post on anything they hate with a Nintendo sucks type post and you will be flooded with them. Granted I like not being doxed so have only done this once.

There is no positive it's either:

1) This post is stupid and I'm gonna mock and laugh at it
2) I disgaree and you are dumb. Hey everyone! Harass / troll this guy!
A kobold 1/out./2024 às 10:36
And we have one of the people who are why this topic exists. Some times it is used for a legit funny topic.

No one uses jester for legit funny topics. They use laugthing face award for that or some other awards to express a positive joy of good laugh without implication of mocking/trolling the post or individual
HereIsPlenty 1/out./2024 às 10:48
I would tend to use the award "Hilarious" if it was a legit funny topic.

And all that means is that the person who uses it lacks any sort of meaningful argument.

jester awards means "we're gonna make money off losers who want to argue in forums but aren't backed up by logic and need some disguised self-validating comfort and at the same time boost our sales by insulting and ridiculing users who criticize our products"

Good thing most people aren't smart enough to realize that. :P
