Ignore List Being Ignored

I've set up several games and categories to be ignored. I don't want to see them, I have no interest in them. And yet I keep seeing them on newly released and featured. Like one of those EA sports games that continually return like disease. Does Steam just ignore the ignore list if the profile of the game or company is big enough?

The thing is, I'm sure there are theoretically games from EA and sports games I'd like to play. Pyre for the latter, for instance. That's why I'm loathe to just ignore everything by them.

it's a pointless feature because it doesn't hide anything, it just shows a slightly dimmed version of it

This works great for data sets that we can easily pre-compute - so if there's a game you shouldn't see due to your mature content filters, you'll never see it on the front page. But if you've chosen to do some more personal filtering of particular developers, or specific games, we can't do that pre-computation as easily. As a result, it's possible you'll see a blurred out game on the front page because your personal filters should cause it to be hidden. In practice, though, this will only happen if you've filtered out so many games that it can't find enough to fill a section of the front page, and again, like the search results, we'll blur that game out and tell you why.
