Edit: I make no effort to hide that I have chronic insomnia. But the funny thing is, I don't have ghosts of the past or regrets or anything haunting my mind when I have an Insomnia episode. If I can't get to sleep, that's because outside of certain circumstances(I exhaust myself, stay up for way too long or I am feeling ill), I don't ever get tired. My being asleep or awake is a binary process. I'm either asleep or I'm 100% fully awake and me not being able to get to sleep means that my body just isn't flipping the switch. I go to bed fully awake and don't drift off to sleep so much as I just pass out suddenly.

Now if I wake up in the middle of the night, that one's more normal. I'm old, bladder don't hold liquid like it used to when I was your age.
