New Steam Recorder Problems

So I gave that a go today, the new recorder in the BETA Opt in. I think it was good at recording games as it did record my game for me, audio and video but I am not sure if it was the Steam Recorder or the game itself (Journey of Bukka) but it didnt record in full screen? I noticed when I play back in VLC Media player there is a black border around the outside of the menu and in game recording?

has anyone else used the new steam recorder and had issues? When I use my standard Bandicam I dont get a black border.

Also the next issue but not sure if related but when I used Bandicut to join all the steam recordings together it bloated out to 10GB! I was like WHAT! When I selected all the files in windows explorer it was only 4.98 GB so not sure if again it was the steam recorder app that did this!

Did you watch the video playback on Steam before watching it with the VLC Media Player? because the recorded videos I made were in full screen. Did you try recording a different game? to see if you get the same issue again.

Try a different game, and see how that works. Make sure you watch the playback after you finish recording, just to see if it shows the game in full screen or not. You can also check the Steam Recording settings. Check everything out and see what's up.

Yes i did the playback in steam recorder it looked alright there. No complaints,
havent had an opportunity to try another game. I thought it was weird that Bukka The journey (unty game I think) recorded with black border. I tried outputting to 1080P and still black border

I opened just in windows media player and still a black border around the recording.
Is there some settings there I missed in steam recorder

So, playing it back (I'm assuming you mean watching the clip) while in the recorder, it looks fine? but trying to view it through the Windows Media Player, you see a black border? I don't know why.

I checked around the settings but don't see anything related to "black border" or anything like that. Don't know if it's because of the player you are using or the videos format (also, beta)

Can you upload the clip elsewhere to see how it looks there? (if we can even upload clips to youtube, as an example) maybe someone more knowledgeable can figure this issue out. I'm sorry I cannot be more useful.

Edit: Also, try sharing it to show people.

I didn't notice that but in journey of bukka I did get steam achievements as I played

So, playing it back (I'm assuming you mean watching the clip) while in the recorder, it looks fine? but trying to view it through the Windows Media Player, you see a black border? I don't know why.

I can show YouTube later yes. I uploaded 720p in the end after the overall file size bloated to 10gb and 720p was 3.5gb. I checked settings and nothing about full screen in steam recorder. I launched my export in vlc and windows media player and still not full screen.

Windows Media Player, VLC and uploaded to youtube it was black border. In the end I settled for 720P because my best connection is 4g and limited data per month. Its better than nothing. I do have another 1-2 free games I can try to record with steam recorder and see if same issue with black border

OK so I just played "Mirlo" and finished the game and recorded it with Steam Recorder. Interestingly it recorded this game in full screen without black borders! I opened the export in VLC Media Player, no black borders and was fine.

Weird how it trecorded Journey of Bukka in black border edges and recorded Mirlo in Full Screen. Maybe the steam recorder is based on the type of game?
