The New SSA is an extortion.
With the way the SSA update is worded, it implies you are either no longer able to join the mass arbitrage, or barred from accessing the games you paid for.
引用自 SolidSonicMania:
When I read the new agreement to me it sounded like nothing but a win for consumers. Companies saying "no, you CANNOT go to court, you have to go into arbitration if you have a dispute with us," is a terrible situation for consumers because due process isn't considered in such a scenario and oftentimes the arbitrator has a prior relationship with the company, meaning the deck is stacked.

Removing that clause and saying you need to go to court to serve Valve with a formal complaint means that the playing field is (at least in theory) now even and Valve must be prepared to argue their case as much as the plaintiff. Rescinding the class action waiver is likewise positive (and usually why arbitration clauses exist in the first place). A company walking such things back is a rare sight, especially in the US.

Arbitration clauses are a blight on consumer rights the way US corporations employ them, even if I personally think from a purely conceptual perspective they do have a time and place to be enforced. Individual consumers being held to an arbitration clause has almost never been a good option and those situations are the ones I wish the government would be more firm about dealing with.

If you want to see the frustrating effects of an arbitration clause in action just look up the LG fridge debacle from earlier this year. LG sells a faulty product that is demonstrably and consistently faulty but when customers are like "I think we deserve to sue and either get refunds or force a recall," LG pointed them to the arbitration clause they "agreed" to by opening the box. So your consumer rights don't mean anything, the company stole them from you when you decided to do business with them, which is a "great" relationship to have with people who willingly spent money on your stuff.

Plenty have been arguing in good faith.
I literally don't believe you. It is beyond the realm of possibility that anyone is in support of forced agreements. You just don't want to lose your steam library and you're more afraid to say so than the people you argue with.

Just because you don't AGREE with something doesn't make anything in support of something outside your narrative bad faith... actually pretty much confirmed you aren't arguing in good faith from the start. Again, I rest my case.

This change literally makes it so you don't have to deal with Arbitration.
WHICH IS A GOOD thing.
Not a bad thing.

Good grief.
How can anyone actually hate not being forced to fly across the country or world to Seattle, Washington if you want to deal with Valve?!?
THat one video linked above really needs to be taken down for spreading false information.

I know right? Hell they even say they are not lawyers and the entire video is a gross misinterpretation and mass speculative extrapolation of things that ARENT EVEN IN THE SSA UPDATE

Not going to happen, because I'm not arguing in bad faith. Pointing out your bad faith tactics is NOT arguing in bad faith, it's just pointing out you are not arguing in good faith. Hey, I can mark off projection on the BINGO card now too!

How do we shut down a video on Youtube?
Good grief, last time I Checked, that could be seen as attempted Industrial Sabotage.

Pretty sure there's a report function but I'm not sure having a REALLY BAD and COMPLETELY INNACURATE take on something after expressing they are not legal professionals and to keep that in mind while watching would justify it getting removed. They kinda covered their bases to some degree. If people who don't actually cross check and research want to take it at face value and ignore those caveats in the beginning of the video... it's not really on the creators anymore.

Ah, okay.
That is fair.
Ugh.
I hate that kind of crap though.

You would have a point if he was doing something wrong, which he wasn't.
You cannot claim he is doing anything bad or wrong.
It is invalid to claim that.

I have explained in a different thread that consumers will not understand the SSA due to common law language used for example, and the usage of vague expressions and descriptions, such as exploit (which can be a good thing, market exploitation for example, or a bad thing, cheat for example).
Anyone who can read atupper middles chool level can read the SSA a. And if there are words they don't understand.. well there's this thing called a dictionary...Never mind that these documents have whole sections devoted to defining terms hused. or stating the context in which something is used.

This is the most pathetic excuse. Especially given the soteric ♥♥♥♥ most gamers learn and memorize to oplay their games.

引用自 Elucidator
Not understanding the SSA is basically the same as not reading it. What you're accepting beats most people. Let alone, people who are impatient and just want to play games will not read a giant text wall that repeats the same stuff several times.
"Too boring. Don't care. " Yeah that's a thing but , as they say. Ignorance of the law doesn't exempt you from the law. If you didn't read or understand then you should not have said you did. Because it's either you didn't understand and thusly lied when you sauid you did. which renders the contract null and void - By Bye Steam account. Or you understood and agreed klnowingly which means you don't get to complain later.

Take your pick.

引用自 Elucidator
As for Steam taking stuff away; we assume as long as we behave, we won't lose our games
--- however valve decided to misbehave and abuse their position of power to force threat us into compliance so that lawfirms who fight for competitive rights have no case, for money.
Where diod you get that from? That is LITERALLY THE OPPOSITE of what happened here.

引用自 Elucidator
This behavior is my main concern.Using our fear, the fear of loss and stress associated with it, this psychological abuse as tools and weapons, which affects millions of people by the way, to avoid legal responsibility for their own Terms of Agreement.
Welcome to the griown up world. Where you have to understand that the consequences of your actions and decisions will come back to you.

TYhough in this case Valve basically strengthened consumer rights and made the system better for well. everyone. .. except shyster lawfirms, and scummy lawyers who were trying to abuse the arbitration claws and the clients silly enough to--Ohhhhhh, now it makes sense.

Well if you're one of the people who signed up with certain lawfirms , lawfirms that put a call out for people to join them... yeah the SSA update basically sent the dreams of a fat payola up in smoke.
