"You have an account alert" - what to do
My Steam acclient displayed a message saying "You have an account alert", but there is no description as to what the alert is, the item is not clickable, and I can't find a way to contact Steam to ask them what this is about.

Any ideas, suggestions on how to proceed?

There is a pop up that comes up when you start Steam. You need to check the little box and agree to the new user agreement before the "account alert" will go away. If the pop up box didn't come up for you, exit Steam and reopen it. It's probably behind the main Steam window, along with the pop up that advertises game sales.

Valve changed the SSA recently, so everybody who's logging on today is getting that alert. They also sent out an e-mail about it.

Not everybody. As far as I can tell, it's only being displayed to people in certain regions.
