It's a convergence phenomenon.
If you're making a game about the same thing., they're gonna share a lot in common

There are several of them out now, yes. Some of them are more like pseudo-RPGs where you send out adventurers. Others are pure simulation games where you make the tavern of your dreams and manage it. Others are closer to those cooking games where you have to do lots of mini-games to make customers happy.

I own Tavern Master, but I haven't played it yet. It seems like it'd be pretty relaxing. As far as I know, it's on the pure simulation side. Epic Tavern looks more like a pseudo-RPG where you send out adventurers to go on quests.

Maybe there'll be a Humble Bundle deal eventually where you can something like 10 of these tavern games for $15. I'd probably buy that. And, sadly, not get around to playing any of them for months, if not years.
