Do racial slurs result in comment-deletion or ban?

I got banned for 'spam'.
But the while thread suddenly got flooded by racial slurs afterwards - total silence.

I just want to know if I can counter slur with slur; is only 'SPAM' a bannable offence?
Kinda feeling like my ban was heavy handed.

Any offensive thing you say can cause ban, and by that I mean anything that can be perceived as offensive, within a reason of course. If you'd like to avoid getting banned, just bear that in mind.

You should find the ban notification and reply to it, in which case it will still be ignored. Gotta make a support ticket, get two auto-replies not answering what you asked and then finally at least one human that seems sympathetic to your cause that you did nothing wrong, but they're not going to do anything and if you reply again you get someone else who thinks you're the worst human on the planet and might lock the ticket. If you do get a legit answer I'd like to know. I thought everyone here had to be 13+ to use steam. Trust me when I say that even 8 year olds know all the bad words and have seen all the things.

How do you know the race of anyone online to know what to call them?

Bans get granted after reports are done on a particular message. If nobody ever report then there will be no ban regardless.

Depends on the moderator. I got banned once from (ironically a Ukrainian made game forum) for calling WW2 Russian armies "Barbarian Hordes". Go figure. Hell man - your handle might even get you banned if it triggers the wrong moderator. It is what it is. Ya never know what will trigger a moderator - they're people too. sometimes I think we forget that.

Oh yeah and don't bother complaining to STEAM support. To the best of my knowledge they don't ever over rule a forum moderator.

I don't think you know how profanity filters works.
- It's functionality doesn't give people a license to start throwing around slurs.
- The slur is unredacted if you try to reply to it.
